FOOTBALL Football Manager Discussion

Montolivo is a difficult player to pigeon hole. He can't be relied upon to be the creative spearhead as he's not that sort of player. I'd say he works best in a 3 man midfield, sharing creativity with another player. He works really well when he can play balls out wide to wingers so you'd need a fair bit of width.

I'm basing this on real life btw, never had him on fm.

I play the 4-4-2 and have tried Montolivo as a box-to-box (seeing his all-round abilities), Deep lying Playmaker, Advanced Playmaker, and also as a Central Midfielder.

Just completed my second consecutive 6-trophy season with Barca, so naturally let my contract run down.

Now waiting for the 2034 World Cup to finish so I can take a national job.

What a match... Javier Hernandez, 10 shots, 7 on target, 6 goals and really only one easy goal, the rest were pretty decent strikes. Antonio Valencia was great, 1 goal and 3 assists. Evans, 1 goal, 3 tackles, 8 headers, 4 intercepts, rating 9.2. And De Rossi was awesome as well 58/61 passes, 1 key pass, 5 tackles, 7 intercepts, 2 assists.

Oh, and Javier Hernandez had 6 goals for the season before this game in 11 games. Now he has 12 in 12. He's also managed 8 assists as well.

Oh and haha, I click continue after the match, first mail, "Fulham sack Hughes" :p

I'll have to give a quick write up of my current save at Droylsden, has probably been my most enjoyable tbh of 2011, when I can be bothered.

How do you play soo good?

It's Sheffield Wednesday. I wouldn't say it's anything unbelievable. Although that Branyik guy looks good :p

Anyway, currently this season, I've only lost 2 league games to Man City and Chelsea, both away from home but other than that, I've won every game. I've lost one Champions League game against Bordeaux but still finished top of my group.

So after 23 league games, I sit on 63 points ahead of Liverpool and Tottenham who have both played 24 matches. I managed to draw Catania in the first knockout leg of the Champions League. I'm into the final of the League Cup after a 7-1 aggregate win over Sunderland in the semi finals (4-0 home, 3-1 away). As I said earlier, I won both the Community Shield and Euro. Super Cup on penalties. I won the Club World Championship, winning the semi final 3-0 and the final 4-0, as Hernandez was involved in every goal, scoring 5 and setting up (Scoring all 3 in semi and scoring 2 and setting up 2 in final). I'm also playing Blackburn in the 4th round of the FA Cup. The only reason I'm staying in all the Cups is that I want to win every tournament this year.

Anyway, stats. Javier Hernandez has been incredible again with 20 goals and 11 assists with an average rating of 7.82 in 22 games. Antonio Valencia had had an injury struck season but in the 15 games he's played, he's managed 6 goals and 11 assists with an average rating of 7.83. Nani has scored 8 goals and got 8 assists in 21 games (missing 2 after being sent off against Fulham :p) Jonny Evans has been awesome again this season, picking up the European Defender of the Year Award as he has managed 5 goals with an average rating of 7.58, playing in all 23 matches. Vidic has had another superb season at the back with 5 goals, an assist and an average rating of 7.53 in 23 matches. De Rossi has been another star player with 2 goals, 7 assists, pass completion of 92%, 4.21 tackles a match, average rating of 7.27, starting in every league match. De Gea won the Goalkeeper of the Year Award for the second time running and surely a NAT callup won't be too far away but Valdes and Reina seem to be the current backup for Casillas atm.

Transfer news, I'll be signing Palermo keeper, Salvatore Sirigu on a free transfer as backup for De Gea with Lindegard not really Premier League standard and I need another backup anyway with Amos not really that good. Ross Blackwood, dubbed the new Leighton Baines has been attracting some interest from other clubs and I have recently rejected a 120k bid from Newcastle. He probably won't be as good as Evra or even Fabio but I'll be looking to keep him for a few seasons and hopefully can get me a few million in a few years time. I've been trying to sign Guiseppe Rossi back from Villarreal as he wants to leave the club but they are unwilling to sell him rejecting my latest bid of 15.75M. I wish Rossi would stop scoring goals for them. He's managed a hattrick and a double in his last 4 games to get Villarreal 2 wins and put them up into 14th but I would be hoping they relegate so I could get Rossi for less than 10M.

I bought him for 17 million pounds and he's definitely class! The only problem I had with him is that he seems to pick at least some sort of injury, be it short term or long term every season. So, you might wanna keep an eye on that.

I wouldn't really mind. I have enough strikers anyway. Hernandez is my first choice, I have Rooney, Berbatov, Macheda as backups with Tenconi a promising youth, Welbeck even and the next legend, Andy Murray. So really, I'll probably be looking to sign Rossi to rotate a bit with Rooney and I'll probably offload Berbatov at the end of the season. Macheda has been playing decent so I'll probably keep him around but it's always nice to have a lot of strong options. Normally I would be hating it that Rooney has only managed 12 league goals over the past 2 seasons but at least it makes my selection choices easier.

Update on my Droylsden save -
Got promoted to the npower league 2.

I got a message saying that someone's petitioning the mayor to give me freedom of the city cos I achieved the impossible by winning the blue square bet premier.

lol.

How are not utilising Rooney that good? For me, he is the best player at United. He even made me forget Aguero for some time. He is that good. I do agree that I have not utilised Hernandez but still, only 12 league goals for a player of Rooney's quality in 2 years is really erratic.

Could you show the report card of Murray?
