We don't need Gilchrist though. We'd be better off having to form openers in Hayden & Watson so on those small grounds Hayden can just play the Gilchrist roll and then we can push Hussey up the order and let Haddin play the finisher roll.
Why would you drop one of our greatest ever ODI openers down the order? Watson is not an opener, and never will be, he is a substitute, and Hayden is nowhere near Gilly's ability at slogging.

That's odd, I saw yesterday on the news that he'll be wearing a modified shoe and will play the first game.

Yea I read that too, I was trying to find out more but that article is all I have. Maybe it was a misprint.

He's actually dropping him out of the side fully. Watson a capable opener, I would rather him there than down at 7 but not for Gilly.

On those sort of grounds, he can mistime shots and they'll go out of the stadium. Does he really have to try?
I'm sure he can, and believe me I'd love it if he decided to play some shots but he's not going to do anything other than stodge through the field restrictions.

It was just a thought. Gilchrist probably should play for his experience and such. He just better come good because we're gonna need him slogging scores close to 250+ scores and batting through the innings with the bowling attack we have. The great attacking batsman like Gilchrist tend to lose their eye for the ball as they reach the mid 30's but they still have the ability to have the odd blinder. The same thing happened to Viv Richards.

I don't think Watson should be opening either. He does alright there but he'd fit in perfectly at number 4.

I don't think Pollock is retiring, all he has said is that it'll be his last World Cup.

Call me old fashioned but maybe winning games for his country are more important than personal achievements .

Yea that's true, looking at his age probably has a few more years in him. Probably will continue after the WC just to help the youngsters out before letting them take over fully.

Well Warne should hve withdrawn his Retirement :( and start playing for us ,its the time we need him :upray

If he comes back to early he could end his career very promptly. I hope for his sake he doesn't come back early, because despite being an Aussie it'd be a shame to lose someone like him with still several years ahead of him.
