ICCCT2006: 1st Semi Final - Aus v NZ

Again another brilliant comment by the commentators!!!

" well, the top 5 looked for only survival and this pair ( oram & Veto ) look for getting runs and thats the key for this 50+ partnership "

infact thats the problem faced by Sachin tendulkar tooo.... he wanted to survive against WI n Aus but didnt work....

Similary Astle shd have tried to attack rather than defending becos Astle is an attacking player.... rather than try to stick to the crease!!!

Also dew now playing role... if wickets wud have preserved by now by kiwis then they wud have been in drivers seat!!!!

if astle attacked that ball by lee anyway he still probably would of gotten out, did you see how much that ball moved

i think everyone elses dismissal theres no excuses but with astle that was ripper of a ball

Rafique, Moniga, Gayle all have gone well against us, the latter two being no more than part timers. Vettori started off very well and only started going for runs late in the piece which most spinners would do.
You wouldn't say a paceman had done particularly well if he got 1/40, though.

85 run partnership. At least this is good stuff!

Agreed surrendar!

Breaking news on sky sports, Shoaib banned for 2 years, Asif for 1 year!

Why 2 for one and 1 for the other.

Wow. Thats going to hurt Pakistan badly!!!

->> Oram out :(

Tis a shame. Franklin needs to knuckle down for a 30+ now.

Great partnership came to an end!!!

NZ lost..Great comeback from 35/6 !!! :clap

Well played both the teams.... 35 from 25 i thought NZ cud do some magic but was very unlucky to get dismissed in short pitched delivery!!!

Well, its all over.... Good Luck for Aussies in finals!!! :cheers

It was looking dangerous there, if we hadn't got Oram out who knows, those two didn't have to score too quickly, they were getting singles pretty easily and hitting the odd boundary. But justice prevailed and all that good work from the opening bowlers didn't go to waste.

I think that proved that we should and could have won that. Top order was the only thing which stopped us.

You have to say, that was damn good batting from Oram and Vettori.

Hopefully we can get it sorted before Sri Lanka come. Being at home should help them get some confidance back.

Aussies deserved it. Good seeing the teams shake hands on the filed afterwald. I don't think the other teams have much of a chance.

THe difference between the teams was the batting of Ponting and Martyn after 2 quick wickets. We couldn't do the same.

Most teams would have fallen to McGrath that night even those teams with a good top order. Australia always have this knack of defending a thereabouts total mainly with McGrath back of course so that's a good sign.

I think we also saw why Hussey should be left down the order and not opening it, we desperately need a finisher and that was the difference between a 250+ and the 240 we got. Symonds is good and all but more times than not he gets out in the last few overs then it's the hit and miss of Lee and Johnson. Of course I have no problem with Hussey at 5 pity he got out too early though.

I was certainly impressed by Vettori and Oram's batting. The top prder certainly was dissapointing which pretty much costed them the game but also Franklin's bowling was poor.

Australia's bowling certainly was impressive early on and used the ball very well. I anticipate them to face SA who are probably the best team to challenge Aus atm in the final but I'm hoping the Windies will make it through :D

Well played Aussies, top performance, but a good fight by the New Zealanders, great batting by Oram and Vettori,if the top order had got into the runs, who knows, the result might have been different.
