ICCCT2006: Group A

This is without the doubt the best game of the tournament so far and Jerome Taylor is bowling superbly well out there. The Windies should now have this game in the bag but i'd be a fool to write off the Australians yet.

EDIT! Taylor gets his hat-trick with an absolute beauty of a yorker and that is the penultimate nail in the Australian coffin. One more wicket needed but surely Australia are out of this now.

An Australian loss would probably be the best result for England. Should they pick themselves up like they usually do against the Old Enemy on Saturday, they have a chance of winning. The West Indies are very much a 'now and then' team so you can't rule out England winning that one either. If Australia refresh and beat India, England would go through!

Jerome is in the house!!

Hard to believe that's the first West Indian ODI hat trick.

* Australia: 100 runs in 24.3 overs (154 balls), Extras 10

Interesting to see how identical the innings were apart from the wickets fallen. Lara and Morton deserve all the praise really, despite the awesome spell at the death from Jerome.

Whoooohoooo... The Champions trophy is truly coming alive with two superbly contested games in Pakistan-Sri Lanka and Australia-West Indies!

West Indies have played superbly. They truly look a team transformed these days! This team is capable of bigger things. I think we should watch out for them! They could go all the way! Its surprising to see Australia lose, but these days, the aura of invincibility is totally missing from this Australian side. They look so much beatable and are involved in a lot of close games! It wont be too far when we see Australia being beaten regularly.

The tournament is getting more interesting now. The pitch at Bradboune has improved from the first one! And I hope it keeps improving. Both the pitches so far have improved well. Hope the tournament goes on like this. A good crowd turnout too! Thats India for U!

Whooo!! Brilliant stuff from the Windies! Excellent stuff from Bravo, Gayle, Samuels and Taylor, and excellent batting display from Lara and Morton.
I read during the commentary that Gayle was apparently giving Clarke a lot of grief, sledging him every ball. Can someone confirm what was happening?

Chris Gayle certainly lost it slightly. He was indeed sledging Michael Clarke after almost every ball, pushing him at one point and even throwing the ball at him- the ball ended up flying over Carlton Baugh for four- hardly going for the stumps...

Yeah, he was acting like a bit of an idiot. Certainly took the title away for on field rudeness from Punter.

Or may be that was the reason why all west indians were charged up along with the support from the crowd they were chanting Bravo Bravo,Taylor Taylor just like when they chant Sachin's name.

Great win from West Indies. This group could end up really tight. I hope India are able to get the West Indies monkey off their back when they play them.

Yeah probably right, gayle's actions most likely pumped some life into the team somewhat like what Andre Nel does from time to time, for some reason it gets into the player's skin and they tend to out soon after its a good strategy but its sad to see such malice in what is known as the gentlemen's game.

Taylor magic was just too good for us in the end. Our usual finisher in Hussey wasn't there to save us this time and Watson didn't go too well in trying to cement his opening spot.

Windies played well.... There were some careless shots attempted by Aussies eg : ponting's dismissal!!!

Windies are growing in confidence now in this group ( 4-1 victry in home, Reached finals in DLF, Now they beat Aussies ) that means its going to be more tough for India now!!! :)

It wasn't a yorker. It was a shocking shot by Hogg. Had he stayed where he was and not gone right across his stumps he coulda clipped it for 4 in an orthodox way.

I don't know why McGrath and Bracken didn't at least try to win. It was good bowling but you have to go for the sixes. Even if you get caught, at least you tried.

The Aussies could have won that, but they obviously threw it away. Hussey wasn't on his game and that is to be expected. He can't do it every time.

Gilchrist's run out was the turning point. The tail couldn't finish it off. Also Bravo dismissing Clarke. 10 overs out from the end Aussies would of been definatly favourites.

Taylor bowled well for his hattrick the first 2 were great. The other West Indians were good too. West Indies outplayed the Aussies today.

Pretty interesting that Sri Lanka and Australia both lost their first games. Those 2 would of been favourites. Of course they're still in it. But they both lost to probably the bottom 2 favourite teams (now that Pak lost their attack), the other games will only get harder.

Good to see a compeditive match though. This pitch played pretty well which is positive. They're getting better.
