ICCCT2006: Group A

Australia have bowled well. I thought England were on for a score of 200 but they have been thwarted by a loss of wickets rather than a lack of runs.

I thought Australia bowled mediocre at best. I'm not trying to criticize their bowling performance, but England's batsmans have played some stupid shots and have gifted their wickets away.

I really do think that England have a mentality like mine. I couldn't care less about one-day internationals, test matches are where it's at. You know what, England have a decent test team!

England are pathetic! It's so painful to watch this match. I thought at last there's going to be some fight after the very solid opening partnership. From then on, it's been the England we all know. Awful. I don't think their Ashes performance is going to be too great tbh. I honestly don't think they're going to be a different test side after their shambolic ODI performances.

Watson is doing well, on the whole though still and average player, so far in his career anyway.
It's funny when you look at things on a longer chronological scale, I mean turn the clock back 3 and a half years, many had said similar of Flintoff; a player with some talent, but not much to show for it.

England tend to score 500 plus when batting first in a test match, clean up the opposition for 200 and chase about 100 to win.

I say make one-day internationals unlimited overs with the teams playing in whites...

England have pretty much lost this game unless if the seamers can bowl extremely well. I guess there is one advantage of this loss and leaving the tournament early, it will mean that they can catch the earlier flight to Australia and spend more time down under prior to the Ashes.

I say England should bring Monty in the next match, get yardy out and bring someone else in, collingwood up in the order, pietersen and flintoff down to 5,6. not a england fan but just my 2 cents since this team and doing crap for them now.

Group A

Guys im sure india will qualify with ease but i guess itll be tough for aussies to qualify after losin to Wi .. even if they beat eng they stand no chance against ind in india.

you gotta have pietersen at 4, i say strauss, bell, collingwood, kp, flintoff, dalrimple, yardy <bowlers>

Is it just me or is the lineup of the team all wrong? Looking at it now, they have all their bigger hitters at the top, and all the nurdlers down the order. Doesn't in any way excuse the collapse, but still if you've just lost a wicket or two, why send in KP and Freddie consecutively? It meant that if they both got out quickly, which happened, the rest of the batting lineup was massively inexperienced leaving only Collingwood as someone who has played in a fair few Odis. Not too surprising then that that inexperienced middle to lower order then collapsed under pressure against a good bowling side.

Considering KP, Freddie and Colly are the three main experienced Odi players, why not spread them through the order sticking them in and around the less experienced players?

The pitch is actually worse than previously indicated IMO. The openers showed how it should be played on but the rest, other than Colly and Anderson were just idiots. The order was totally messed up as well. The openers were obviously fien under the circumstances, but Pietersen and Flintoff should not be next to each other; one should be high in the order and one later. Collingwood was really badly used - he should have come in when three wickets had gone in succession as he thrives in those situtations.

While we can say all day that the ODI's are second to Tests, if we keep on losing ODI's it will seep into our Test play and eventually we will start to slip there too.

Just another bowler really. Nothing special. He is bowling well.

Silly shot from Flintoff.
He's an all-rounder, so of course he isnt going to be McGrath like with his bowling. But he is alot better than all those pathetic excuses for all-rounders England has been using, i.e Clarke, Bresnan, Yardy ect.

We all know Clarke is abysmal, Bresnan was never considered as an all-rounder and he was just drafted in as injury cover so I don't know where you've got that from, and Yardy has only played 4 games for us.

lol pwned England. Anderson and Mahmood opening the bowling? C'mon captain, pick up the slack, bowl yourself.
