If this was Ben Stokes, he would have declared by now! Ben Stokes 1 Rest of the world 0.

Da Silva’s chatter behind the stumps is entertaining.

This is the reason some feel test cricket is dying! This is such a boring wicket. All test matches should only be played in India, South Africa, England and Australia. **India only for the monetary factor.

This hasn’t been a great wicket but Indian pitches haven’t been special either.

Happy for the superstar though!

I added a ** :p

That was embarrassing from Rohit.

Baz-ball has made every other test match boring.

All of a sudden though, looks like WI are bowling on the same pitch that Ashwin and Jadeja were. let's see if they can extract some more wickets.

It is not Baz-ball, it is the quality of pitches, the quality of crowd and things around it. Also quality of opposition matter. Same pitch and India play Pakistan things will be so different. West Indies are not one of the most exciting opposition.

I think we only have 5-6 teams that make test cricket exciting (India, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and England). Bangladesh, Afghanistan, West Indies, Sri Lanka do not produce any exciting wickets or plays.

It does feel like the quality of pitches in the West Indies has added to their stagnation over the years. What few strengths they have, one is seam bowling and they've beaten England when preparing decent pace bowling pitches in the last few years.

The fact the last two batters to average 40 (min. 20 innings) debuted 23 years ago doesn't help. Two guys who are closest (Darren Bravo and Nkumrah Bonner) aren't in the side either.

As a kid this is what always was on my mind when we toured

1. England - Juicy overcast conditions with seaming and swinging deliveries.
2. Australia - HARD Fast pitches giving no little to no time for reaction.
3. South Africa - Seaming conditions that would make Batsman's life miserable.
4. West Indies - Fast hard deck like Australia with bowlers getting some swing initially.
5. New Zealand - Same as England with green decks to suit their bowlers.
6. Sri Lanka - Good batting surface that becomes a dynamite for spin bowling from 3rd day.

Have not seen much of India Pakistan unfortunately in tests.

West Indies lost their pitches somewhere along with Sri Lanka who who prepare either batting surfaces or dynamites like India.

Bingo! I've had this game on for the last two days as I have worked. WI has been a pushover - no resistance with the bat (that too on their own pitches after winning the toss), the balling has been mediocre at best barring a 10-over spell when both Rohit and Gill got out. The field has been defensive all day.

Surely you know that India will bring Ashwin and Jadeja to these pitches, how can you not have a plan to play/attack them? I don't think India has even needed to go to a Plan B.

Ideally, split the WTC into Leagues. League 1 has Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa and England and the other League with the rest. With a relegation sort of system - the bottom of League 1 move to League 2 for the next cycle and the top of League 2 moves to League 1. More exciting cricket and adds more than just a final, has an increased level of competition to either finish at the top of the league or avoid the bottom of the league.

I will say though, Jaiswal has been very good for a 20y old on this pitch. No real rash shots and really played within himself even when the wickets fell at the other end. That too coming straight from the IPL.
