What is really the point of this series is what I am wondering now. I thought West Indies somehow would show up and I do not see that happening at all. Not until they prepare better pitches that would suit them and not India. India even though are a great test side, they are in transition and are vulnerable. No idea why would they not prepare fast juicy pitches that would support them
No pitch would suit West Indies

It does feel like the quality of pitches in the West Indies has added to their stagnation over the years. What few strengths they have, one is seam bowling and they've beaten England when preparing decent pace bowling pitches in the last few years.

The fact the last two batters to average 40 (min. 20 innings) debuted 23 years ago doesn't help. Two guys who are closest (Darren Bravo and Nkumrah Bonner) aren't in the side either.
The slow flat pitches the WI prepared now are staggering. Like they are actively trying to kill cricket in the region.

Looking at Windsor Park's history it seems like a pretty standard pitch. Low run rates and lots of wickets for spinners. Shane Shillingford and Marlon Samuels took 16 between them in 2013. The year before Shillingford got another ten-for in 2012 in a match Michael Clarke got a 5-for.

First hosted a test in 2011 so long after the heights of West Indies cricket. It seems a case of it being Dominica's turn to host when the opposition have Ashwin and Jadeja. They'd be better off hosting England there.

Something exciting as Mukesh Kumar debuts for India. Hope West Indies show up this match.

I didn't expect Mukesh to get a game here. I thought he was going to be the water boy for a good 3-4 series....
