Mafia: Discussion, History and Waiting List Thread

In league's section the problem was, there were too many leagues included and most of those leagues that were included were run by such members who didn't see LOTM as just a competition for fun but were just too serious about it. I fail to understand the logic of some of those members and it isn't like such competition haven't succeeded in this forum. SOTM and SOTQ both are run very successfully in stories forum. :) As far as mafia games are concern, they are run by members who are part of this site for a decent time and they do know that SOTQ in this section will be just for fun and it will basically be a competition in a good way among the mafia games.

@Yudi - Anything isn't decided yet. It's just a idea about which I wasn't sure and contacted Hedger who wasn't sure about it either and I just wanted to know the views of other members.

Humble request, can we please stay away from all those competitions? I mean this section is doing fantastic without them.

But what is it exactly? Some sort of system to decide which was the better game?

Cos, we don't need that to judge them. Quite obvious that the best ones were really active games like HP, Pokemon and LOTR; while the ones that sucked were either inactive or unbalanced, for e.g. - Yudi's WWE, Survivor and Smurfs.

Was just wanting to know members view on this. Glad that members aren't mad about such competitions. Cheers guys! :cheers

I think that mafia games work well as a co-operative enterprise between mods and players of all levels of experience. I think encouraging them to compete with each other risks spoiling that.

Also, I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that none of those competitions you mentioned are currently running. I don't know about leagues or graphics, but SOTM/SOTQ are not running in either story forum, and of course even the annual PC Awards have apparently been cancelled.

I think, in order to get people used to the mafia, games such as Goal Mafia should be run more often. One themed game (experienced players) while one short mafia game (new players). This will help the players a lot and then they can play the themed games too. Just like how it went from one level to another when Ollie first brought this thing here.

Also, a sub forum for mafia games, maybe?

No, no increasing the number of shorter games please. We're running smoothly right now, and I have a bad feeling about letting this happen too frequently.

I'm not saying that there needs to be a rush for the short games. We can have one long and one short game at a time. Like now Goal mafia and Scooby Doo mafia are on. So, when Scooby Doo mafia finishes, we can have another such set.

I'd like some shorter games. You get more activity and, if you're killed on night 1, don't have to sit around waiting weeks for a game to finish.

It'll be a teaching experience for both mods and players.

Please suggest me some mafia game forums. I have searched a few but, there the games are played somewhat differently. I'd like if the games are what they are like here.

mafiascum.net?
or if you wanna play live maf(finishes in 10-15 min)- epicmafia.com

I'm thinking of Dr.Pepper's idea as a base. We can have an experienced player guide the town. It'll help the members inside the game better, and will help them too.

That's not a bad idea, but it doesn't have to be an experienced player. Just a good one. Zohaib's played more games than Colin, but he's one of the worse ones going. While Colin's one of the better ones.

Experience and skill are two different things.
