Why? It's not like any other team in this tournament has been impressive.

England can't even beat Ireland and Bangladesh.
SA couldn't chase down 170.
WI got shellacked by SA.
Sri Lanka lost their only match to top competition.
Pakistan got hammered by NZ
NZ got hammered by Australia.

Australia is the only team without a bad performance, but they've only played 2 matches.

India is very much in this.

Lol @ India. Should've got about 420 with the start they got. It's going to be a really good effort if they do end up winning the WC because you cant just rely on getting 350 every time because your bowlers suck (apart from Zaheer). I can't believe Ashwin hasn't got a game yet though, I thought he would've played from the first game of the tournament tbh..

You know what, Ashwin is a good bowler but not the kind of bowler that will come in and immediately produce results. By making the media talk big about why Dhoni is not giving Ashwin a game, Dhoni has put enormous pressure on Ashwin. If Ashwin comes in and doesnt perform first match, the media will sharpen their knives and say "this guy is overhyped and is a waste for the team, he is only there because the chairman of selectors Srikanth hails from chennai, etc". Not a good thing to do at all. Just hope Ashwin has the strength and ability to perform immediately once he comes in.

I have a feeling that someone from Group B will be lifting the trophy. Either South Africa or India. I am not giving up on our campaign yet. Had it been some other part of the world, this was a dead and buried campaign. But inspite of our bowling weaknesses and fielding inefficiency, we came periliously close today to beating South Africa inspite of imploding to 29/9 in those end overs of our batting. Only if Dhoni gets his act right, our campaign should be back on track. We are not favorites, but there are no single dominant favorites this tournament.

I'd be tempted to just mod preview the entire thread! We see it time and again that a large percentage of the Indian members on this forum clearly don't have the mental capacity to post rationally and just come out with ridiculous stuff. At least there are also a good number of posters in this thread with half a brain, but unfortunately having to read some of the posts before they were deleted as well, just leaves me thinking that until maturity and common sense is shown, they needed to be treated like the children that they are so everyone else doesn't have to suffer because of them.

Fun? Looks really pathetic to me. Watching Times Now channel and hearing the crowd chant Nehra murdabad. Its quite stupid to think a team as strong as South Africa werent going to come back in some way. Now people calling for MSD's head? ITS CRICKET for gods sake. You win matches, you lose matches. All this bickering as far as im concerned are not by real indian cricket fans, just a bunch of uneducated idiots who dont even know what the game of cricket is all about.

Let it happen. Atleast it will wake up the cricketers. I thought nothing like this would happen since we lost closely. Yeah it is over reaction in India but this has helped us bounce back before (look back to the 2003 WC)

Me too. We still have the home advantage. The issue with us was public and media expectations. After a highly shaky start to the tournament for us, the favorites tag is not with us anymore, and people are already preparing themselves up for an early Indian exit (i.e. in the quarterfinals). All this can be a good thing too.

Also User has a perfect point. If Indian players underperform, then you lash at them. But if they perform good, you praise them like god. Stop following too much cricket and concentrate on other sports also. Its like you're only playing cricket.
And also if Dhoni brings Ashwin and if he performs poorly, I'm wondering what will the media do?

Also this media should stop its poor method of working. It should encourage rather than discourage.

I hope this loss works in the same way the loss against australia in the group stages worked for us in 2003 WC. Its good that we got the wake up call in the group stages. We've got a week before next match and i can already see Kirsten sweating munaf and Nehra until they get it right.
