Pakistan in India

And, Yo Mahesh who I talked about in the other thread could be brought in for the ODI's.

I'd go with this for the 50's.

Tendulkar
Ganguly
Dhoni
Dravid
Yuvraj
Karthik
Tiwary/Kaif/Raina (rotation)
Irfan
Harbajan/Piyush
Mahesh
Zaheer

No Yomahesh, if he does not open the bowling for India A nor take wickets for them, he is clearly not doing well enough to play for the main side.

I would go with this team for the test matches.

1. Dinesh Karthik
2. Wasim Jaffer
3. Rahul Dravid
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. Sourav Ganguly
6. Mahendra Singh Dhoni (*+)
7. Ramesh Powar (check the FC batting average)
8. Irfan Pathan
9. Harbhajan Singh
10. Sreesanth
11. Zaheer Khan

Other potential squad members: Gautam Gambhir; Yuvraj Singh; Ishant Sharma; Piyush Chawla; S Badrinath; VVS Laxman

Dinesh Karthik and Wasim Jaffer opening simply because they worked so well against England. Wasim Jaffer has a proven track record in India too. The big three must play in these batting conditions because they have played many a game in India and are used to the conditions. Batting strength is needed too when we are playing the extra bowler. Yuvraj or VVS should possibly play the odd game in for one of the big three in order to phase them out.

Dhoni to keep and captain. If he is to settle as captain, he must captain for at least a year before being judged. His keeping has improved enough to keep for India without question.

Ramesh Powar to play in the same role he played in Bangladesh, as the fifth bowler and all rounder. His first class batting average is 31.19 which is good enough for an all rounder. I think his FC average will compare well as it is mostly based on games in India. Harbhajan Singh to be the other spin bowler, two spinners are needed in India, especially when you lack pace strength as India do. Bhajji did enough in his Surrey stint to earn a recall, he has always been quality in four/five day games.

Irfan Pathan is also required. On pitches which favour spin more, your pacers need to have an extra dimention and Pathan has swing which has worked against Pakistan before. He will also make up for the lack of one batsman too.

Zaheer Khan and Sreesanth speak for themselves tbh. As for the "other potential squad members":

Laxman: Needs no explanation
Gambhir: Reserve opener, heavily proven in India.
Yuvraj Singh: Needs to be phased into the test side
Badrinath: Played very well for India A, proven in India too.
Ishant Sharma: Provides another dimention in bounce which is needed in India.
Chawla: Very good bowler, should be kept around.

i expect this sort of squad for Pakistan in tests, if Yousuf is available than good if hes not that there will have to be a replacement and nobody today in pakistan can fill those shoes.

Butt(VC they wont drop him but i do support giving him a run as a opener in tests)
Hafeez
Younis
Yousuf (if back if not than Malik at #4 and Yousufs replacment batting lower)
Malik
Afridi
Akmal+
Shoaib (if back if not than Anwer Ali or another young pacer)
Kaneria
Gul
Asif

It would be hard to replace Yousuf and i really dont kno of anyone that has stood out in Pakistan maybe continue with Misbah or Faisal Iqbal, Hasan Raza. I expect Asif to be the leading wicket taker in this series these subcontinent pitches will suit his seam bowling, Kaneria and Gul will have to be on top of their game. Shaoib if there will be a great aset to Pakistan as he can still be a handfull but if not than i would give a try to Anwer Ali.

India to win. Any team that can beat England in England gets my nod. Besides, India are in front of their home fans.

And if you remember quite clearly england were missing their main pace bowlers throughout the whole series.
and if you remember clearly you will remember the thrashing india got in karachi test match.
dont throw the 4-2 line cos we did the same to you the previous year.

In england india got lucky because england were missing harmison and hoggard.
had even 1 of them been fit india would have been beaten 3-0

my above comment about englands injuries

Isn't it ironic how these injuries don't make a difference when England play Pakistan?

Flintoff
Vaughan
Trescothick
Jones
pakistan battered england when flintoff and vaughn were fit
infact pakistan were the side that started off vaughns injury problems that time.

trescothick was fit and had the worst series of his life in the tests and odi's.

and you guys need to get over simon jones,
he is never coming back and never playing for wales....sorry..england ever again.

Ah yes, Trescothick did play. Been a while since i've said that.

You asked me who was injured, and Flintoff and Vaughan missing from the England team are about as high key you can get. Whether or not Jones returns again or not is a moot point, you asked who was injured for that series and Jones was one of them. If you don't like to accept my answers then please desist from asking them in the first place.

and by the way this is an india vs pakistan thread so no point bringing englands injuries into it

im sure you guys have already thought up an injury for broad when he got smashed for 6 6's by Yuvi yesterday

Your the one who brought them into it!

And what's Broad got to do with anything? I thought England had nothing to do with this which is what you just said in the very same post.

As usual, you resort to being stuffy with me because your posts have been proved feeble. Try harder next time bino lad.

well i think it is the other way around
india is a feeble test side but a damn good odi side

I think you better look at the icc rankings india are ahead of pakistan and are ranked 3 and playing at home india have only lost a series to australia
which had rain not washed out the fifth day we could have drawn2-2.
Do you really think pakistan can beat india in the test series can you please tell us what makes you think so?

India should pick yomahesh even if he is not taking wickets at first class level on those flat wickets because he has huge potential.there are many people who pick load of wickets at domestic cricket but are failures at internatinal level .we must pick talent.he is a seam bowler which india need and is tall and sharp.

First class cricket and international cricket is different ramesh powar cannot be picked for batting ahead of harbhajan.

Shewag any day against pakistan over karthick.Dinesh has to be rahuls replacement as our no 3 batsman. We have to pray for munaf to get his fitness back he will be very good in india wih his reverse swing.

Here is the team that will surely play-

1. Virender Shewag
2. Wasim Jaffer
3. Rahul Dravid
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. Sourav Ganguly
6. V.V.S Laxman
7. Mahendra Singh Dhoni
8. Anil Kumble
9. Harbhajan Singh
10. Sreesanth
11. Zaheer Khan
