Pakistan Tour of Australia 2009/10

Ok what the hell? Dirk Nannes just played for the Netherlands less than 12 months ago, and he's in contention to play for Australia?

Absolute nonsense.
Perhaps if you actually knew stuff about cricket, you'd realise that you can play for a test nation as soon as you want after you've played for an associate nation, take Eoin Morgan for example, his last match for Ireland was on the 6th April last year, he debuted for England on the 24th May. There's also the fact that Nannes played an ODI against Scotland and a T20 against England for Australia.

Nannes has played for Australia after the world cup, in an ODI and T20.

People are often mis-informed, ignorant or stupid. I think all 3 can be applied a lot of the time.

Woo, Taity! Sloon!

And we've got the best T20 bowler in the world in the side, in Dirk Nannes. Admittedly, this pick pisses me off because of his age, but I suppose the selectors only have the World T20 in mind, so it's for the short term.

And Steven Smith is in the side as well! :banana2

Will Haddin get a break towards the end of the WI series?

Watson
Warner
White
Dussey
Haddin
Clarke
Birt
Smith
Johnson
Nannes
Tait

That's my XI.

I hope we see some fresh blood in the T20. About time we give Smith a go while hes in form.

Agreed. I actually wouldn't mind seeing half a squad of different in form domestic players, it's not like these Twenty20 games are important.

No sarcasm btw.

Clarke should be batting at no.10 tbh

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL Clarke in the team, what a tweaking FAIL :doh

He is probably still in the team because he wants to be captain, he knows Marsh will take it off him when Punter retires :laugh

Why not ask Clarke to open? He can hold one end IMO. Would have liked to see White as captain

Why not rest Watson and Marsh? Paine has been hitting the ball fairly well for Tassie IIRC.

Ok maybe rest Watson. But Shaun Marsh has been an absolute gun in T20 and Warner is just the same. Paine has a doggy technique and against Pakistan he might not do so well.

Smith is definitely a given with that lineup. Seems a bit weird to leave out one of the bowlers since Johnson has been rested, Nannes, Tait and Harris are basically fresh and ready. Unless Birt gets 12 man duties.

Watson
Marsh
Warner
Clarke (c)
Hussey
White
Haddin (wk)
Smith
Johnson
Harris
Nannes

Smith should be included and bat at no. 8 as he has performed very well with the ball in 20/20's.

Clarke shouldn't be in the team. He is simply not a 20/20 player. He has a shockingly poor record and when it comes to the batting he's the only weakness I can actually see in the side. We'd be better off playing someone like Voges who has a good 20/20 record and is adaptable. He has the ability to play the anchor role and accumulate the runs but he also has the ability to play some big shots and score quick runs e.g his 62 ball century in his 2nd ODD game

Umm, we have changed half the squad. There is no M.Hussey, Hopes, Siddle, Hauritz, McKay or Voges. 5 of those guys played last night.

And I prefer Ajdude's team to yours Gazza and cricketmad. I think we should play all 4 quick bowlers. Johnson certainly can bat. Harris ain't bad either and in any case if you are relying on #8 and #9 for batting in a T20 you are gonna be losing. The other thing with playing 4 fast bowlers means that we can ditch Tait after 1 or 2 overs if he bowls tripe :p Hopefully not though, I'd like to see a AB De Villiers-type hip smashing delivery like last year.:)

So if all 4 quicks play it's really just a matter of which 2 of the 4 new guys play: Warner, Birt, D.Hussey and Smith. I'd probably play Smith and Hussey for the spin. That would give you 4 quicks, Smith and D.Hussey for spin, plus Watson and Clarke if required. Plenty of bowling is always good in T20. You don't want to get trapped in a Pollard v Henriques type matchup that you could change with another bowling option.
