Pakistan Tour of Australia 2009/10

Aaron Heal wouldn't have been a bad option either, I know giving Smith some international exposure is important though. Heal did so well in the Big Bash.

There's a few people that wouldn't have been out of place in this squad, a short list;
Heal
Hastings
Christian
Finch
Simpson? (if he were to open)
Knowles (bit old)
Rimmington
Even Cosgrove
And to an extent, Mitchell Marsh

But I guess they have to keep SOME players from the older squads...I guess...

I don't see why Mike Hussey has to miss out either, he has the highest strike rate of any Australian in the ODI team and his form in limited overs has been great.

Agree about Hastings too, I rate him highly

I hope Big Birt gets a game. He's ben playing well. I would have thought Timmy Paine would have got into the side to give Haddin a rest.

Haddin might get a rest during the WI tour or even the NZ one. Paine would be better but hes more of an opener which we seem to have a lot of.

We should've gone for Ronchi instead of Paine imo. He's a Better hitter of the ball and can score runs at quicker rate than Paine.

What I think this shows is that Australia is gaining alot of depth and we're back on the way to being the dominant nation in all forms of international cricket

Paine was one of the top scorers in the Big Bash and had a strike rate of about 200. Much better than Ronchi.

Well tbh most of those people in that list bar M.Marsh will never get a game for Australia :p

You've pretty much nailed the reasons why he deserves a break. It's a one off and there are plenty more games this summer, might as well play an entire 2nd XI.

Matthew Wade anyone?

I suppose the selectors might go for a more bizarre squad in the T20s v West Indies at the end of the summer.
