Pakistan Tour of Australia 2009/10

Yep and most people already knew that before today.

Well, I don't know about that. Remember how West Indies were totally outplayed in the first test? Pakistan could come back very strongly in the next test. I think they've already lost this test though.

True, but I very highly doubt they will. Danish Kaneria might make a difference in the next game but I just don't think the bowlers can do enough to make up for the very average batting and poor fielding.

Not to mention Mo Yo's captaincy is far worse then Gayles.

Well Gayle and co. had a point to prove and to an extent they did so. We on the other hand...........:facepalm

Pakistan on the other hand have hardly played any cricket (test cricket)
But that's a major reason why people weren't sure of the West Indies! Never mind what they did last year, most of their players missed 6 months immediately before the series due to the strike.

You still don't say that Pakistan is out of game, there may be twist;) as I always say and you always see that twist:D

Pakistan batting and fielding is in prime worst form;)

I'm liking the way Ponting is rotating the bowling at the moment. The commentators were talking about how he'd had a good day yesterday and I agree. Aggressive declaration, some good field placings and good bowling strategy.

What Australia is doing now is bringing on Hauritz earlier and giving him a long spell so that the quicker bowlers are able to come back and bowl reverse swing. Everyone ends up bowling the same amount of overs as usual, but it's much more tactically sound. It used to be: bowl the quicks until they're gassed, then give Hauritz the ball. Then by the time the fast bowlers were ready again some of the reverse swing period had already passed. This way, the fast bowlers are getting every chance of using reverse. And since the ball rarely swings conventionally here, reverse is about the only chance of movement there is.

I'm sure this morning we'll see another long Hauritz spell, but it should be towards the end of the 31 overs remaining until the new ball. That will let the fast guys try and wring whats left of the reverse swing out of the ball before having a rest and taking the new rock.

AWTA, Ponting seems to have got some captaincy lessons from Warne as he is being a lot more proactive. I wonder if he would have declared had it been England or a similar team.

As for Pakistan, they are your usual mix bag of lollies, where you have no idea what you can expect. On their day they can be devastating but those days are few and far between. With Yousuf well off his Test average of over 50 and no Khan they really are struggling in the batting and they now no longer have the unpredictable batting unless you are talking about scoring 200 all out compared to 100 all out.

I like the idea of declaring early and not batting the other team out of the game.

Rather than making the opponent then bat without pressure, this gives them a chance, so their run rate is slower and they are also a bit shocked as well.

Ponting this summer has shown he can be aggressive after the Ashes backlash.

I still think the declaration was wrong. Why not bring in a Haddin or Johnson and get them to go berserk for 30 mins then post a total of at least 500, then at least we couldn't lose.

Look at it this way, would you have complained if Steve Waugh made this decision? You would probably think it was another one of his geniuses.

It seems as if people have double standards, 1st Ponting is a sissy as captain, then he is bold and too aggressive.

:facepalm

It wasn't bold and agressive decision, it was a stupid one. Like I said before why not go crazy for a few overs? We're just lucky Pakistan's failing, they easily could of won this match (still could maybe). They could of only got 350 in their innings and still had a chance.

As I said, so Pakistan still feel like they have a chance and so they don't bat like Gayle did at the WACA.

I guess Ponting just has a lot more faith in his attack than you guys. Pakistan only got above 350 twice against NZ (once at Napier) and rest of the time they were in low to mid 200s

Oh really? Check out Adelaide 03. MCG 02 we struggled after posting a big score. Also see Eng in Adelaide 06. Ponting has been playing test cricket for longer than you've been alive son, give him a bit of respect.
