I'm liking the way Ponting is rotating the bowling at the moment. The commentators were talking about how he'd had a good day yesterday and I agree. Aggressive declaration, some good field placings and good bowling strategy.
What Australia is doing now is bringing on Hauritz earlier and giving him a long spell so that the quicker bowlers are able to come back and bowl reverse swing. Everyone ends up bowling the same amount of overs as usual, but it's much more tactically sound. It used to be: bowl the quicks until they're gassed, then give Hauritz the ball. Then by the time the fast bowlers were ready again some of the reverse swing period had already passed. This way, the fast bowlers are getting every chance of using reverse. And since the ball rarely swings conventionally here, reverse is about the only chance of movement there is.
I'm sure this morning we'll see another long Hauritz spell, but it should be towards the end of the 31 overs remaining until the new ball. That will let the fast guys try and wring whats left of the reverse swing out of the ball before having a rest and taking the new rock.
