I'd heard a lot about this Umar Akmal fella, but hadn't actually seen him bat. Well, I have now. The first over I've seen him face brought 0, 4, 4, 6, 4 and 1. The first boundary over mid on was just a ridiculous shot for a Test match, brilliantly played but just reckless. Not complaining though, this guy's incredible to watch. Be interesting to see how consistent he can be. Certainly looks good, can't complain about his international record so far, averaging 64 in Tests and 44 in ODi's from the games he's played. Looks a real talent, just needs to sort those eyebrows out.

Give him some credit, he is a 19 year old who just got a 50 against the Aussies at the MCG. I think most of us have not accomplished anywhere near what his lad has by that age

Oh I am not giving him no credit. He did very well to get a 50 considering that none of the other batsmen did but he's not making the most of that talent. He's so very talented and I want to see him doing well. He played very well but needed to look at the larger picture and see that if he got out, he would have only dug an even deeper hole for Pakistan (which he has done now). Plus, he was settled. If he got out to an unplayable delivery, that's fine, but he could have resisted the temptation on that delivery.
