South Africa in Australia Dec 2008-Jan 2009

Australia has taken over the tag of chokers from SA? :p

Na,full credit to Albie.Ponting used his bowling source well,it just was a perfect call for Power play in last overs by South Africa.
South Africa won because they have now lower order batsman who can finish the game in such condition and Australia at the same time have no Mcgrath or in form Lee.

I wouldn't say it was a perfect call. Basically it was a forced call. They really should of taken the powerplay when Duminy and Mckenzie were really set. Full credit to Morkel though!!

No they shouldn't. If you have hitters to come a powerplay in the last 5 overs is very hard to contain. In the last 5 overs the batsmen can swing for the hills and with only 3 fielders allowed outside the chance of it coming of is high.

This formula has worked very well for the domestic sides in our local competition. The only reason people are questioning the approach today is because of the batting collapse.

NZ used this tactics against WI in recent series. But It could go either way.
For South Africa it was right decision because they had Albie at end who used last power play better than Duminy or Mckenzie would have.

still it was tight match

c'mon Australia win the next one
Absolutely at a loss to see Albie coming so low down the order.

Chuck out that Jaarsveld guy and get in ABD if fit for next game and SA will be even stronger than what it now. Jaarsveld messed up two catches, a run out, and then screwed up with the bat. Can't expect ABD doing even quarter that damage.

Precambrian added 0 Minutes and 43 Seconds later...

Hard to digest I know. ;)

Stop picking good for nothing players like Hopes or White, (although the former can potentially open). Stick with specialists, because specialists win you games.

Warner
Marsh
Ponting
Clarke
David
Michael
Haddin
Harris
Bracken
Hilfenhaus
Tait

If Warner fails consistently, then at least we've got an idea of where he's at at the moment. If White/Hopes continues to play, they'll set the world on fire with they're 10s and 20s at 6 or 7 which is just what we need. Also would have Hughes in there to have a look see.

Still not convinced of Shaun Marsh, but if Warner fires then Marsh can be the anchor, if a slower batsman plays, then drop Marsh for a hitter to give our innings a bit of potency because there's not one in our lineup who can do that.
