Wow, what's with the Clarke hate here? I thought he was very well liked?
I myself would have Clarke on my ODI side in the middle order over a lot of the current middle orders. You guys are blaming the wrong person!!!

I'm not surprised that Hopes gets a lot of chances, he is one of the best bowlers in the domestic one day competition, but probably doesn't get the best chances as a first or second change bowler on often dull ODI pitches. I've seen plenty of bowlers who look more lethal completely botch the job; Hopes provides a reliable foil to more fiery bowlers.
However, with the resources available right now, I'd probably favour McDonald over White and replace Hopes with a spinner. In coming matches, it will be interesting to see how Johnson is with the bat in limited overs. One would think he could be a useful and hard hitting number 8 in any form of the game.

Well Hopes appears to be dropped for Hauritz going by cricinfo inside info. Wouldn't be a surprise since Tassie use 3 spinners in their OD matches. I do feel for Warner the whole 9 commentary team and media is expecting something big from him, hope he can deliver.
It was pretty funny when the commentators were wondering why White wasn't bowling but Clarke and Hussey were. Credit to Ponting for not bowling White. I don't think White should be in the side as a specialist batsman. He's a good hitter at the end but they could select someone much better. I guess Symonds will replace him when fit and until then he'll be fine.

White doesn't even have confidence to bowl himself for Victoria so I can understand why he wouldn't be confident bowling him. With Symonds in there the 5th bowling option is shared a lot better. I feel there is too much pressure on Hopes as 4th bowler, Watson I can live with as 4th bowler but Hopes is better of in the 5th bowlers role. We don't need 8 batters.

yes i agree White is not good enough to be a specialist batsmen *Cough* neither is Clarke *Cough* he wasnt bowled so it seems he is in there as a batsmen which is ludicrous. Cant wait for Symonds to come back.

You mean the stats which cuts most of Clarke career? May as well just cut Bradman career down to his final match while we are at it. If you are going to compare a player their overall career has to be looked at and Clarke has almost twice the average that White has.

Mate, an argument is not necessarily a fight. That's what makes this forum fun. People can argue, then at the end still be mates. So don't worry, I don't think less of you or hate you or anything
The stats say Clarke is better if you look at the overall picture. Plus he has played more matches which makes it harder to maintain a higher average. If you look at the last few series then White is in better form, doesn't make him better.
And yes, I'm happy to agree to disagree and settle on the fact we have different opinions.
