South Africa in England

He's been given some quite serious roles with the ball before, so he is clearly rated well by his team-mates, and knowing him quite well he is more than a part-timer. His batting? He is a match-winner, but he isn't going to consistently smack hundreds. I think 7 suits him down to the bone.

What are we doing with the Scotland ODI on Monday? It's not live, no on-line commentary either iirc?

If thats true, then thats terrible. What sort of messege is it giving out? We want rivelry between the home nations, both Scotland and Ireland are improving and it should be a great affair, like in the Soccer and Rugby.

England v Scotland will be live only on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra on DAB digital radio and online in the UK.

Sky refused to televise it because of their other cricket commitments and the BBC refused it because it is during its coverage of the Olympic Games.

My God! Why can't Channel 5 cover it, or even Channel 4.

No wonder kids these days aren't playing sport, its all put on sky, and quite a few families in the UK cannot afford that £50 a month of whatever it is these days for Sky sports.

What "other" cricket commitments are there?!

Surely they're not talking about county cricket...

I think there is a county game on Monday. Pro40, I believe. I think it's Kent vs Derbyshire.

?20 a month, actually. It is hardly completely out of reach for these people.

Don't blame it on all on Sky. Kids aren't playing sport because most of them are fat and don't want to play sport anyway.

Why aren't Sky televising it? Because it's non-competetive. The same reason they don't televise England's warm-up games when they go on tour, the same reason they don't televise county's pre season tours and why not try and blame the BBC instead? They could have televised it but I don't see anyone slagging them off. Yeah they've got olympic commitments but they could have put it on BBC4 or interactive if they wanted too. The fact is, an England vs Scotland friendly isn't going to darw in the punters like a Six Nations tie would.

Sorry to go off on one Simon, but it's completley unfair to blame Sky entirely.

It is competitive actually. It is something like the Calcutta Cup of rugby. This is the 'first competitive match between Scotland and England'.

Okay then, it's a friendly no matter how Cricket Scotland word it.

Do you really think England are going to go all out to win it when they've got an ODI series against South Africa coming up? No. This is a warm up match. A friendly.

It's like the Emirates Cup that Arsenal have in pre season. Does Wenger play all his big guns in an attempt to win the silverware? No, they are warm up matches for the new season.

We shouldn't have to go all out to win. Come on. It's Scotland.

Yeah by the BBC. So why aren't they doing it this year and yet some people are blaming Sky?

And it's still a warm up game.
