South Africa in England

Yes, because Jones isn't in the squad;).

Yes, because Prior is not in the squad either:cool:

WestIndian added 2 Minutes and 58 Seconds later...

There is talk by the SA coach that McKenzie may not play due to a groin strain, they are still evaluating him, I hope he can play and is at 100%, because this could be a bad blow to SA.

So Sidebums out and the team looks like
Cook
Strauss
Vaughan
KP
Bell
Colly
Fred
Ambrose
Broad
Anderson
Monty

That is a hell of a batting line up, very deep :D

btw that isn't the offical team lol, that's just what is expected provided sidebottom isn't fit. :p

Very amped about tomorrow's game but i checked the weather forcast on cricinfo and it doesnt look great. Really hope this one doesnt rain out Headingley usually provide results. Would be a bummer if McKenzie doesnt make it, him and Smith are on a good run averaging 99 over 11 innings which is pretty damn impressive....bit of a downer if a Duminy (a debutant) has to come in and live up to stats like that - unnecessary pressure on a young bloke i think. Apparently Arthur is pretty optimistic that McKenzie will play, hopefully it works out that way. I would also like to see Andre Nel in the team instead of Harris. He doesnt really have great pace but hes got the heart and perserverence, aggression and variation we need. The pitches over there usually favour quicks anyway and why put harris in just for the sake of having a change of bowling, when we all know hes prob gonna go wicketless or get a random wicket somewhere.

Well if Sidebottom is fit then Freddie will bat at seven and Ambrose will move up to six. I feel the worst already. :(

I'll put a tenner on Collingwood scoring a massive 100 at Headingley.

Ive already done that lol - £15 on colly making a 100

but obviously even if he does that, and flintoff gets a duck, flintoff is sfar to important to be dropped. I mean goodness, if flintoff got dropped it might cause the ECB to loose a few pounds, and we just couldn't have that could we planetcricket members?

Stupid board of selectors, Flintoff has done very little at county level and yet he comes striaght back into the team. Poor old Colly will have to make 487*, take 10 wickets in an innings and discover the secret for world peace before he's let back in.

oh and DPRA, colly's alrite really - just a bit out of form, everyone has it from time to time.

sorry, it's been a long day:rolleyes:

Wowee we are all dropping out, pattinsons in as back up for Anderson too now. But it looks like Collys going out now. I didn't know Pattinson was born in England, I guess that's ok. I thought he just had an English grandparent, that would be pushing it, :p This is a very English looking line up I must say!

Collingwood has a long term shoulder problem and needs an operation - this is the perfect time for him to have it. Get it sorted, have a rest and come back refreshed. We need our One Day captain in.
Flintoff is a talisman, he gives the whole side a lift, other teams fear him and he is good enough to play as a bowler alone. If we win the toss and bowl first, starting on time, I would bet Freddie has at least 2 wickets by the close of play tomorrow.

So can someone catch me up here, Collingwood has been droped for Big Bad Flintoff which means Ambrose is going to bat at six, and Fintoff will bat at seven. I can't see England making to many runs to be honest, Michael Vaughan is out of form, so is Cook and add Ambrose and Fintoff to that list. And if McKenzie is out Duminy wil come in for him, I've been wondering how long it will be untill this kid was given a chance, from what I've seen of him he has looked very good. He opened in the Tour match he played in so I guess he would open with Smith.

I think ambrose will do well, he didn't in the first test but he only had 1 innings and he loves his shots off the back foot so he'll prefer pace. Cook is class, he'll come good.

Fred is a brilliant bowler. All these times in recent test matches where we've had no-one to turn to, now we've got Fred. I love it. I am so exited to see him back playing for England again. We need to bowl first and hit them hard with this 5 man attack.
