South Africa in England

Sureshot name be one where he has When in trouble grinded out a big score.

The best batsmen grind out scores and change there style.

Pietersen only knows agression.

The oval 2005!?

I've named one!

He was the sole decent batsman at Lord's in those Ashes too.

His 142 at Birmingham vs Sri Lanka, England had a total of 295, extras was the 2nd highest scorer! He played Murali as though he were just any normal off-spinner.

When Asif made KP his bunny, Kp responded with a 96 in that fabled Oval Test match.

His record against the best in the world says everything about Pietersen.

Vs India at Lord's last year, scored half the runs. Singh and Khan were in excellent form.

He's scored 3 hundreds in the last 6 tests. He's one of the best batsman in the world, because he uses aggression to counter bowlers.

It's a cliché, but "attack is the best form of defence".

I've named enough examples there, he's also played enough innings at a slower pace. Like at Trent Bridge vs Nottingham, barely hit 50 runs per 100 balls. You will be the only one fighting your argument.

So because he doesn't spend 6 hours scoring a hundred, it makes him a bad batsman?

Who says you have to grind out a score? You play to your strengths you dont see ronaldo playing right back for united.

Why is it nesseccary to have ground out a score to be a great batsman. Surely the batsman who change the face of an innings with an express innings regularly such as Pietersen, Hayden etc are great batsmen

Ambrose gone to Steyn.

Hayden does grind out scores.

Pietersen does not do it often enough and can not knuckle down and grind out a big score.

Yes attacking can work but not all the time and Pietersen is exposed by this.

I'd much rather see Pietersen play aggressively than try to ground out an innings.

But im sure England fans would rather see him get a 100 off 230 balls than get 10 off 12 balls.

We need that big innings from Freddie, Broady needs to pitch in as well, I have a feeling Freddie's getting 100.

FFS! I think the next three batsmen Will get out very cheaply.

That innings will have done Flintoff the world of good. We could well reap the benefits of it later on in the series.
