Sri Lanka in England/Netherlands

It would be interesting to see how much of a difference Flintoff and Vaughan would have on this team. Strauss has done a terrible job as skipper. A lot has been said about the poor bowling -and rightly so- but the batting hasn't been up to scratch either. At Lord's Tharanga got a 100, Jayasuriya got a 100 at the Oval and now Jayawardene has one at Durham. An England player hasn't scored an ODI 100 since, well, I can't remember. (Ireland not included)

We just don't have the discpline in our batting to get hundreds.

That wouldn't matter so much if we had discipline in our bowling, but sadly, we don't.

Just concentrate on basics, line and length. I mean it is a simple game! The wickets will then come.

Sajid Mahmood has tried to bowl at least 10 yorkers in this game. All of them have been full tosses, and all of them have been comfortably whipped away for at least 1 run. However, he has bowled 2-3 slower bowls and they have all gone past the edge of the bat, so why is he persisting with the yorker which hasn't worked for him today? England are going to be beaten by 8 wickets here, this is an absolute shambles, yet another ODI series loss on home soil. After this match Sri Lanka will be 5-1 up on aggregate.

Utter dissapointment once again, Pietersen wont play the last two matches to make sure he doesnt get injured, might aswell give the big guns a rest and play some of the others in the squad, whoever that might be ?

The England selectors are idiots. No doubt they will ring the changes for this match, but it is already 3 matches too late. I'm going to the Old trafford game, and sadly, it's the first time ever, that I haven't looked forward to going to a cricket match.

So is this all still part of England's plans to get that 4th/5th bowler for the World Cup? I can't see how this is doing anything for their confidence as a team for the World Cup or even for the Ashes. Also, I don't want Sri Lanka to gain too much confidence before the tri-series involving South Africa and India!

I wouldn't get too worried, India should beat Sri Lanka. I didn't mind getting beat by India in the ODI's earlier in the year, but I am embarrassed at being beaten so convincingly by Sri Lanka.

I'll see what the English mean when they say their ODI team is crap! Sri Lanka had no fears about the English attack, it had nothing. Scored 300 one game and this game reached a good target of 260 in only 42 overs. England badly need Freddie back.

...And Vaughan.

I thought you guys didn't need Vaughan in ODIs? Definitely not for his batting, his captaincy is the only good thing for him in ODIs.

He's very underrated as a batsman in ODI's, but yes, we do need him back as captain; Strauss has had a shocker, and Flintoff's own performance has suffered because of the captaincy too. Although it seemed to make him perfrom better in India.
