you are saying as if he retired from cricket
and a new player came in who snatched his records.

he is the same.

Sreesanth in, Laxman out

S Sreesanth, a right-arm fast bowler from Kerala, was rewarded for his superb performances in the Challenger Series with a place in the Indian squad for the first two one-day internationals against Sri Lanka. The 15-man squad also includes Rudra Pratap Singh, the 19-year-old left-arm seamer, but there was no room for VVS Laxman. Sourav Ganguly and Mohammad Kaif were left out due to injuries, and will undergo fitness tests before the squad for the remaining games is announced.

Sreesanth was outstanding in the Challengers, taking seven wickets in three matches - the joint-highest in the tournament with Murali Kartik - at an average of just less than 20. He joins Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar and Rudra Pratap Singh as the three specialist fast bowlers in the squad, while the spin department is manned by Harbhajan Singh and Kartik.

The Challenger's couldn't do the trick for Laxman, though. Despite scores of 48 and 110 in the two matches he played, Laxman was omitted. Zaheer Khan too couldn't make it though on a couple of occasions in the series he was back to his searing best. On his omission, Kiran More, chairman of selectors, said, "we are looking at options in this area [seamers]. A few youngsters are looking strong and have performed better".

The selectors kept their faith in Venugopal Rao and Suresh Raina, who were both part of the squad for the triangular one-day tournament in Zimbabwe earlier this year.

The Challengers also wasn't such a good one for Kaif, who tore a hamstring while fielding during the final on Thursday. The state of that injury, as well as Ganguly's dodgy tennis elbow, will be assessed before the selectors meet to decide the squad for the rest of the series.

The seven-match ODI series begins with a game at Nagpur on October 25.

Squad
Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid (captain), Yuvraj Singh, Venugopal Rao, Suresh Raina, JP Yadav, MS Dhoni (wk), Harbhajan Singh, Murali Kartik, Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar, S Sreesanth, RP Singh.

Team Lanka announced too.

Very good move to inject Sreesanth into the squad. And good job to give Raina and Rao a prolonged run! I just wish either make the job of the selectors by performing very well in the first two games and make Kaif and Ganguly sweat to return back to the team!

My ideal final XII would be

Virender Sehwag
Sachin Tendulkar
Venugopal Rao
Rahul Dravid
Yuvraj Singh
MS Dhoni
Irfan Pathan
Ajit Agarkar
Murali Kartik
Harbhajan Singh
Sree Santh

Super Sub: Suresh Raina (Can replace Sree Santh or Bhajji!)

Suresh Raina as a super sub is a good option considering the fact that he can bat as well as bowl. And that too pretty well.

Come on India...................to lose! I have just checked the squads of both of the teams on cricinfo. I felt the Indian squad for the first two matches is little weak. I don't know what those new youngsters going to do against this powerful Sri Lankan side. Truly, I'm not interested in this series because I already know what's going to happen. I gave up. No hopes for this team to win. I just don't care anymore. I don't understand one thing. How will they win against Sri Lanka if they lost to India A. I just hope may the best team win!

Good! Then please let the other Indian and Sri Lankan fans to rejoice their own teams! Please dont post negative things about either teams that hurts their fans (just a request; if you continue then go ahead, I cant do anything). Constructive criticism about the team's performance is welcome! Just bad mouthing them based on their previous results is not constructive criticism! You can never predict which way the wind is going to blow!

The past few weeks have definitely showed signs that the things with Indian cricket is looking to be going in the right direction!

I feel sorry that you've given up hope! I hope you find some other interesting thing to enjoy with! Good luck!

One more thing, it was just a Challenger! And a first class match who statistics are going to be added to a cricketer's first class stats! Do you think the mental state of the team is the same in a first class match as it is in an international one? Losing to India-A doesnt mean you will lose to Sri Lanka! And one more thing, it wasnt a comprehensive win for India-A! The team that absorbed the pressure better won! It was a 1 wicket victory for India-A, mind you! India Seniors after being 172/6 came back to score 289 with Rao and Agarkar scoring those runs! So, do you think we are as worse as you pose us to be?

Sachin's inclusion adds that power to the line up on paper! His 16 year old experience will definitely come into help and he is in a much better frame of mind unlike our previous series captain Saurav Ganguly who is always under immense pressure both as a batsman and as a captain! And if you look at Kaif's replacement Rao, he is also in very good touch as a batsman! So from our previous Videocon series, we havent lost much on the squad! And playing in India is definitely going to help!

Regarding telecast rights, DirecTV is in direct competition with Dish Network for the cricketing rights! Lets watch who gets it! DirecTV is now telecasting 180 days of live cricket from all around the world!

But Dish is better because they have better experience and have a good success ratio of telecasting too! I watched the broadband telecast of DirecTV's IndianOil Cup in Sri Lanka and wasnt too impressed with their broadcast!

rao should be supersub not raina.
raina is an excellent fielder.
btw, it's

Rao vs Raina?

as when kaif returns(and maybe even ganguly), one(or maybe both) will go out

likely team

Sehwag
Tendulkar
Rao/Raina
Dravid
Yuvraj
Raina/Rao
Dhoni
Yadav/Agarkar
Irfan
Harbhajan
RPSingh/Kartik

SuperSub = Sreesanth when bowling

Any chances for GAMBHIR? no chances i think, sehwag and sachin with dada returning
in a future life he shouldn't become opener

You'll get to know who wins the telecast tangle (which has been going on since last year) in the forthcoming two days.

Also dont know why Harbhajan has been persisted with ?
Has'nt done anything for the team since the Australia series in 2001.

Thats the point! 172/6 to India A. Sri Lanka wouldn't let us get away with that!

I dont think India-A is too worse. Our domestic cricket has been quite strong and have been producing good cricketers. India-A is not a weak team as it is being made out to be!
