Well they obviously weren't on the day, like Bangladesh vs Aus in the summer.

i remember when sri lanka beat south africa 5-0 in sri lanka in 2004 i think. they always seem to do bad against the lankans

Thats right, Its the SL spinners who do the trick for them. SA has only won against SL in their home country(well mostl) and once I remember in Champions trophy at Dhaka.

I think the South Africans were on a high after beating Australia and under estimated the Sri Lankans. Next time round i think SA will be more eager and probably beat the Sri Lankans. Well the Sri Lankans next game is at the SCG and I feel that they may pose a surprise and beat the Aussies. SCG will most likely turn for Murali and Bandara looks like a promising leg spinner. Also the last time Sri Lanka played at the SCG they thumped Australia, scored 330 odd and an opening partnership worth 230 :p This series is very much alive which is fantastic.

Kallis is expected to be out of the VB series and maybe the series in SA. Another massive blow with Nel, Ntini and Langaveldt out. They really are a bowler down now considering Kemp can not bowl for a while because of his shoulder. I hope they pick Lance Klusener :p that is if he still plays.

I think you might be right. I also think that the Sri Lankans reallydid put more into that game, like murili said. They attacked better. Were more committed in the field. I really have to say they impressed me.

As I said SL shouldn't be under estimated. In the first game they had no hope cause Aus were brillant. But against SA they were able to set a good total and let the bowlers do the rest. They will be tough to beat at the SCG and Hogg will have to be at his best against SL.

Well Aus have really no real specialist spinner apart from Hogg who tbh isn't the best going around. Other than his subtle wrongun the Sri Lankans will pick him off easily. I think they really should give MacGill another go despite him being in the 30's or perhaps Casson or Cullen. Sri Lanka have Murali and Bandara at their disposal which will be an advantage. If Jayasuriya was playing than i reckon Sri Lanka will have an even better chance of winning the macth at the SCG.

Probably not the right time to throw Casson and Cullen into the ODI arena at the SCG against one of the best teams against spinners. MacGill would be the better option but he can be hit and miss in ODIs. Either takes wickets or goes for a few.
If we did use them our team has to be at full strength making their transition into the international arena a bit easier.

We basically gifted the game to them,by letting them bat first then our inexperienced bowling line-up bowled badly.
We also dropped some sitters.
We probably could have chased that score but we threw wickets away with soft dismisals due to run-outs,that Rudolph runout really cost us plenty.
I don't think Sri Lanka will win again this series as the Aussies should crush them and I'm sure our new attack will help us a lot.
It's one thing being beaten by a side with such poor form, even though they played well, but to have those arrogant supporters showing signs like " go home SA
".
We will see who goes home!,but I'm sure the Aussies and us will put them back in their place soon.
SA are not one of the worst ODI teams . Until very recently, they were ranked No.2 in the ODI table .
How can you forget that your team was beaten 5-0 against the Lankans.
Sri Lanka are a very mercurial side as most subcontinental teams are.
They have the talent but are very inconsistent , even more inconsistent than India or Pakistan .

I don`t believe in teams gifting matches away ! You suggested that SA gifted the game away.

SRL won it fair and square and not just beat you guys, they bashed you !
Also, the victory came at a venue known to assist pace and bounce (GABBA).

How can u ever underestimate a team with the likes of Murali,Vaas,Sangakarra,Atapattu,Jayawardena .

Don`t be surprised if you guys lose agian to the Sri
Lanka in this series or if Auistralia lose to them at the SCG.

SRL are the underdogs but that might just as well suit them .
It would have been better had they had Jayasuriya in their ranks .
Having said that, I like the look of Tharanga as a batsman .

I support Sri Lanka in this series for obvious reasons, they are our neighbouring country !
Sri Lanka were in very good shape before losing 6-1 in India and I say it again `Do not underestimate them`

My only concern is whether they can handle Lee or not.

Lee and McGrath, At one end you have probaly the worlds most economic and accurate bowler tieing you down while at the other end your facing one of the quickest bowlers in the world who now bowls with not only fire, but accuracy and swing as well.

If the Sri Lankans can survive this attack and bowl well (like the young South African's did) we could see them winning the series quite easily.

not sure about lee but mcgrath can really stop any player to score runs.

South Africa can argue that they didn't have their best bowling attack. Which is fair enough. I mean three of your pacemen out is a huge blow. But really, Smith thought his team could chase such a score and got no where near it.

They can't really use their bowling attack as an excuse when in the previous game their young bowlers had the world champs at 6/71.

One thing that most opposition sides should be when batting first against Aus is to just take on McGrath. Yes it will be difficult but they must remember McGrath really isn't at his prime and even admits he is not at his best atm. The Sri Lankan and even the South African batsmans should advance down the wicket and taken on McGrath or play some innovative shots to frustrate McGrath. It is common that if McGrath or Lee start to get frustrated, than the poorer they bowl and start to bowl bouncers consistenly like Lee or pull pitched deliveries.
