Third Test: Australia v England at Edgbaston

Ah ok, at least its this week. All this selection speculation is killing me.

North wasn't the only player to perform poorly at Lords anyway (Johnson, Hughes, Ponting, and I suppose Katich spring to mind). Hardly droppable material, plus he has experience in England and won't break down with a hamstring injury after each match.

He is the only logical guy to get dropped.
Katich - Going better than Hughes
Hughes - Can't move Hussey who is still finding form and Watson has 4 ducks as opener
Ponting - Obvious
Hussey - Starting to score runs and experience
Clarke - Obvious

Which leaves North.

Who has scored a century this series, unlike a few other batsman. So where is the logic in that?

Watson is not coming in replacing North as a batter, he is replacing him as an all rounder.

My point is, you can't drop a bloke who scored a magnificent century just one test before the last. He is a very good batsman.

If they want Watson in that would be the way they get him in. And our selectors have dropped numerous players that have made 100s in a series. Brad Hodge and Gillespie both made double 100s and found themselves dropped the next series.

You can't drop North when he scored a ton in the first test. He'll be the unluckiest cricketer since Jason Gillespie if he is dropped. Also you can't drop him the day after his birthday. That's a terrible Bday Present.

Happy Birthday Snorks.

Can you really drop Hussey though when he looks to be getting in form? Not to mention the fact he was one of the few batters and the only one in the 1st inns of the Lords Test to pass 50.

Can you really drop North when he is in form? Better to have someone who is in form than someone who 'looks to be getting in form'.

Can you really say North is in form though? If he was in form he would have made runs in the 2nd Test.

Johnson out, Watson in. Replaces the bowler and adds the batting that you guys reckon we need in the lower order.

Then replace either Siddle or Hauritz with Clark and then we are done.

Hooper added 0 Minutes and 50 Seconds later...

More in form then most. He is the closest batsman we have to being in form, apart from Michael Clarke and Brad Haddin.
