Third Test: Australia v England at Edgbaston

True.

Also a little off topic. Is it just me or does every second Pom have a picture of Andrew Flintoff as their avatar..? The man puts in one good performance and he is the UV of English Cricket. Please no, ANDREW FLINTOFF KING OF BIG WICKET AND SOME SIXES!!!1!

IAN BELL IS ████

Tbf who'd have thought we'd go one up in an ashes series. It was nice for a while.

Tbh I knew we'd lost the series as soon as we won at Lords. It'll really kick the crims into action now and they'll have a field day with IB king of bottle at number 4.

Bopara at 3, Bell at 4 then Colly at 5? That doesn't sound like a very promising middle order to me. If we get rid of Strauss and Cook I think we have a chance of bowling you out for a pretty low score. We just need to get Johnson out of there, bring back Stuey Clark. Clark can do it.

Best bowler of the series ;) But we need the strengthen the lower order without Johnson and McDonald can do that. If we didn't have so many question marks about the batters above you could go in without the lower order batter but we got bowled out for 200.

aussie1st added 8 Minutes and 39 Seconds later...

The other option is Watson in for Siddle, Johnson playing as a 'batter' that bowls a bit.

My advise would be to forget about the batting and pick the team that is most likely to get 20 wickets. The batsmen have to take responsibility.

That is right. Putting in Macdonald would be negative. The only change from the 2nd Test may be Clark for Johnson. Bowlers should not be selected for their batting. All rounders should only be selected if they are of Test standard. Watson isn't and MacDonald is only there on sufferance. If Watson whinges one more time about not being selected he and his hair products should be sent home and told never to grace the Australian dressing room again. We need winners, not whingeing, walking hair care commercials. Any of you Poms see him on the street, please feel free to have a swing at him with a Grey Nicholls. I'll provide an alibi if you need one.

Not likely given our selectors added the extra batting in India when our batting didn't need it.

Bell's averaging over 80 in the Championship this season tbf to him. Obviously he's no KP, but he's got a good record in England and is our best back-up batter. Bopara, Collingwood, Bell and Prior is a very handy middle order, it's not like KP's been scoring big runs thus summer anyway, so it's not a huge problem losing him I think. Just need Rav to start making a few now, imperative that he improves.

A bowling attack with McDonald and/or Johnson cant take 20 wickets. Siddle, Clark, Hilfy and Haury can bowl them out for 200 if we get the openers early.

I still don't see Hauritz as an attacking option, if he remains at the top of the wicket tally at the end of the series I might change my mind. But right now I see him as equal with McDonald.

And as crap as Johnson is going he still has more wickets than Siddle and all the English bowlers so he certainly won't be the problem in terms of getting 20 wickets. Keeping the opposition below 400 is another question but again Siddle hasn't gone much better than Johnson in that aspect either.

Let's all get UV avatars to combat them :p

Back on topic, I don't see why we shouldn't drop North for Watto.

I don't see why North should be dropped tbh, he's had three innings this series, 125*, 0 and 6, as well as 191* against the England Lions, which, if you watched it, was a superb knock.

North wasn't the only player to perform poorly at Lords anyway (Johnson, Hughes, Ponting, and I suppose Katich spring to mind). Hardly droppable material, plus he has experience in England and won't break down with a hamstring injury after each match.

Bell is crap. Every run he gets will be a bonus. There are loads more deserving players, Bell has proved he isn't cut out for international cricket. Maybe he should try the womens team seeing as he has no cajones.
