Third Test: Australia v England at Edgbaston

Bring Back Hoggy. I cannot stress this enough. He is perfect for english conditions, consistent and England through and through.

I do not doubt Bell's talent, but like so many English player's he fails to maximise his potential. What I dispute is the fact that the selectors can only seem to draw from a certain pool with exeptions of Pattison (Who should recieve no blame for his selection - I thought he did ok) and Kahn (who was useless)

GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A GO!!! goodness knows what message the young lions must be getting.

There is Key and Shah for a start, but all the other names leap to mind before Bell anyway. How about Joyce? I would be in favour of Colly at 3, as only he can seem to build an innings consistently. Any thoughts?

Awnsers on a postcard

Colly is not a Number 3. Thing is, we all know if Bell can overcome his problem he will be a world class batsman. He has averaged 80 with Warks this season and I'm happy to give him another go.

Is Bopara a Number 3? I would rather have a defensive number 3 who can stay in with an attacking 4-5-6 to follow. That's just me :D. If Bell does well we will all say how amazing he is, but like Harmison, he has been given lots of last chances and I really hope he doesn't bugger it up

I have given up hope of Trott playing, his chances aren't exactly helped by the fact sky don't even mention him as a potential replacement. It seems I am the only person aware he exists. However they do know Shah exists and he hit a century today so I can hold out some hope that he will get picked ahead of Bell.

Shah wont get picked, its going to be Bell. Broad will also stay and so will Onions. They will not change a winning team...unfortunately

That's because you don't change a winning team! Sends out an awful message to the players.

How ingenious would it be for England to give Ramps a go? Or even Trott? Imagine that, it could be the best left-field pick of the century. If they hit a match-winning innings it could throw Australia right off. And what better time when you are one-up and your opponents are honestly considering the likes of Krejza and Watson as bowling options?

But it's England, and we know they aren't cunning and ruthless enough to do it. Such a shame.

Australia did not change their team which would have won if they have 10 more minutes and look what happened. I am all for giving Onions an extended run. I am however losing faith in Broad. However with KP out of the picture, we need his batting now even more so I doubt he will lose his spot .

Hello no. As much as I though he was harshly dropped and should have gained his place back at some point last year he really has lost his nip, watching him in a twenty twenty the other week he was only bowling 76-80 and didn't look overly threatening.

Hoggy is old news, sure we all feel sorry for the way he was tossed aside but Id rather bring back Harmy than him. Harmison has actually troubled batsman this year and picked up bag loads of wickets. Even Sidebottom is above Hoggy in those terms

The tail would be too long and with questionable form of Hussey, North and Hughes; Johnson's lower order abilities prove handy. The only way Johnson won't be in the 3rd Test side is if he does a Krejza in the tour match.
