Third Test: Australia v England at Edgbaston

Good to see Watson in great form with both his batting and bowling, hope he doesn't get injured again sometime soon.

The tail would be too long and with questionable form of Hussey, North and Hughes; Johnson's lower order abilities prove handy. The only way Johnson won't be in the 3rd Test side is if he does a Krejza in the tour match.

He's well on the way to doing that. :sarcasm

Lucky for him they declared and Hussey didn't do a Ponting by bowling him for 6 more overs.
Looks like we are batting on, probably fair enough, wouldn't want to have a loss against this side.

Aye, Watson will be in the team so we might as well be lining up with McDonald for Clarke and Manou in as a specialist batsmen for Ponting.

Taking into consideration the tour game just completed.

1. Hughes
2. Katich
3. Ponting
4. Clarke
5. Hussey
6. North
7. Haddin
8. Hauritz
9. Siddle
10. Clark
11. Hilfenhaus

Watson still misses out for me, if North or Hussey fail in the next match, then it's potentially time for Watson to come in.

Nah, Husseys on the mend.

Lee won't be picked, I thought he was ruled out.

Hauritz is playing the the tour match so I'd say he's fine.

Watson NEEDS to replace Hughes and Clark should replace Johnson.

1) Simon Katich
2) Shane Watson
3) Ricky Ponting
4) Michael Clarke
5) Michael Hussey
6) Marcus North
7) Brad Haddin
8) Nathan Hauritz
9) Peter Siddle
10) Stuart Clark
11) Ben Hilfenhaus

That's our best chance IMO.

I would say Clark in for Johnson and Watson in for North. If the pitch isn't taking turn you could make a case for McDonald in for Hauritz.

Best bowler of the series ;) But we need the strengthen the lower order without Johnson and McDonald can do that. If we didn't have so many question marks about the batters above you could go in without the lower order batter but we got bowled out for 200.

The other option is Watson in for Siddle, Johnson playing as a 'batter' that bowls a bit.

Watson opening? Really?

If Watson isn't batting 6 or 7, I don't think he should be in the team at all. So many people have been so harsh on North, I hope he gets selected and pumps a big ton to shut you all up and prove his critics wrong.

You mean like the ton in his first Ashes innings? :) Leave the bloke alone ay. He's had a couple of bad scores, he'll come good.

Dropping North isn't to do with his batting form. More to do with our need for an extra bowler incase Siddle/Johnson have another off day.
