Third Test: Australia v England at Edgbaston

Lol replace Hughes with a guy that got 4 ducks in 6 inns when he opened for Queensland. Funny guy Watson.

LOL.
Hughes is a good option for opening for sure.
I really pray that Australia wins the third test and the series becomes more interesting.

Well good thing that God does not answer any prayers then.

england selectors should turn back the clock and just give ramprakash a final fling.

Maybe Ramps is the solution. Against this Aussie attack he could have a field day.
Aggers is now worried about Fred's fitness again so don't hold your breath there either.

Dussey made 189 yesterday for Notts; if Hughes or Mussey fail in the third test, he'll be an option.

No, Hussey has proven that he doesn't make it at international level. Plus the fact he's too old he won't be playing for Australia. I'd prefer Ferguson.

Slightly off-topic, but I noticed in one of the Aus A vs Pak A ODIs, Ferguson hit TWO sixes. Not one, but TWO. And no fours. And made 48 or so out of it. Seriously, were the boundaries 40 metres long?! Didn't know Fergo could hit sixes! Shall now be known as:
FERGO KING OF UNOFFICIAL ODIS! KING OF SIXERS!

You should know the state of our spinner depth. He is the next best spinner, McGain had a worst debut than Krejza in terms of wickets taken and economy. The rest aren't even near him, so its more a case of getting the next best spinner over here.

If the choices are that poor, than you must simply go without a spinner. This is all presuming Hauritz is injured though, which I'm not sure he is.

I know I've been calling for it but when you look at the stats, Johnson has only 1 less wicket than Hauritz and Hilfy for the series and as bad as he looks he somehow is only going at 4 an over. He surely can't go any worst than what he has done so far and if his worst has lead to him having more wickets than Flintoff, then it makes you wonder what he will do when he is at his best. All will depend on his tour match showing.

I guess it will depend on this tour match showing, but you must admit that the difference between the two sides in the second Test was England's opening partnership (200ish) and a lot of that was down to the rubbish that Johnson was serving up which relieved Hilfy's pressure.

Not in the Ashes and not when it leads to you being 1-0 down. The Ashes isn't the place to be experimenting to see if you can get the ball to swing, you either have it or you don't. Can't have it in between as we have seen what happens in the two test so far.

It is not an experiment to pitch the ball up and look for swing. Siddle has got considerable swing and has used it well. Perhaps he has worked out that the pitches are not as quick as in South Africa and so he cannot pitch short of a length and expect massive assistance. The assistance in England is in the air and he has been clever to notice this.
