Warm-up matches

Yes it does mean that, when did I say I did, his pace was widely accepted on the forums as 60-70mph and was shown as that on the highlights, also the commentators made disparaging remarks about his wickets being undeserving and lucky.

This world cup build up has raised more question than it has answered.

For one: Australia the favourites were smashed in the commenwealth bank finals and white washed in New Zealand. And now they appear to be back in form with a smashing of England

Then South Africa (new favourites) struggled against Ireland and lost to Pakistan who were seen as least likely test nation to reach the final four.

Then West Indies, the hosts, were bowled out for 85 in an even more bizarre twist, because of not recognising how their home pitches play.

India have emerged as favourites but expect more questions to be raised by the upcoming matches ;).

Go check out their bowling speeds again. Mcgrath is around 75km and Wasim was around 80-85..
actually wasim was around 89-91 when he was pathans age
he only came down to 85 around the world cup but was still bowling around 86-87

mickey arthurs comments

"It was a tale of two pitches," Mickey Arthur, South Africa's coach, told AFP. "When we batted it was wet and difficult, but later the pitch dried up and became easier."

maybe pakistan should have made this excuse too in the SA series

these are warm up games so they don't really have any bearig on the tournament. Obviously it's much better to win them but they don't really matter and it's not how you start it's how you finish

Well they could have but it wouldnt have explained a 3-1 drubbing

We had no excuse in that series.. Actually when you're playing cricket there aren't any excuses. If you lose that game, than it is usually your own fault. Blaming the pitch or conditions is childish.

Who told u that? Then Glen Mcgrath should bowl spin.Wasim Akram wasn't that quick either. He hasnt played too many matches during last few months,so dont expect him to do wonders now.We should give him some matches.
Right, except Pathan has nowhere near the accuracy of McGrath or the swing of Akram. There were promising signs in the beginning of his career, but I believe he is just deadweight that we are carrying around, like Sehwag.

Also, if you expect the big boys like Australia and South Africa to gift away their wickets like they did to Pathan today, you might as well conclude now that India will win the World Cup final by 10 wickets.

Agreed these warm up matches were primarily designed to settle the first XI for the first game and to feel for the conditions. It's still far too premature to decide who the favourite is, even though Aus, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan have won both matches it does not mean that they are the favourites. Pretty much whoever wins the world cup will perform their best in the final 2-4 matches.

These matches are like the NAB Cup in the AFL if you have watched it before, they are only warm up matches, they dont mean nothing

The results don't matter, but what happens within the match does. Aussies will be happy to see Hogg looking warmed up, England will be happy to see Vaughan batting as good as ever.

Even in the AFL preseason, the teams that are no longer in the NAB Cup continue to play practice matches in which individuals show glimpses of how they intend to carry themselves throughout the premiership season.

Ok I know it was only a warm-up matche, but looking at the bolwing stats, I'm happy with this game. How did some of you think Australia bowled?

kodos you bag out australia all the time and then when they play some decent cricket you either disappear or come up with this ^. such a fence-sitter too.

johnson 2 overs for 20 runs...hmmmmm, on the positive side though it looks like Tait, Hogg and Clark all bowled reasonably well.
