Australia Tour Of India 2012/13

You know, I reckon this Watson/Cowan partnership at top is doing perfectly.

Henriques got a 33, that's pretty good.

I don't understand that why did India A follow-on Australia? I don't think India A should have given them that extra batting practice.

May be Gambhir had a fear of getting out cheaply in second innings... so he could keep his foot strongly at selectors' door by having 100+ of 1st inning :p

I wanted to say it. But I kept myself back from saying it. In fact, I wanted to say more about Gambhir's intentions when asking Australia to follow-on, but I will just let others say it.:p:D

Probably,it was a tactic to make the Aussies feel less dominating. Look,as India A we managed to make you follow-on within 3 days. Wait and watch what will happen when you take on the actual Indian team :p

On a more serious note, I think Gambhir wanted to drive home the advantage and try and bowl out Australia on the last day. Not impossible, but that would have been the general idea.

That would be it, if India A managed to beat this team inside 3 days then that would be a massive mental win.
Spin as expected is going to be a serious issue. By the sounds of things Hughes two innings against spin has been shocking.

^Yep quite right, India went for glory by putting Aussies back in. If Australia had been bowled out again, then the mental scars would have been fairly big entering 1st Test. Especially if India got Clarke out early...

Shane Watson breaks down too often. Ideally, I'd like to see Watson bat lower down the order given that the current openers have really performed well. Cowan is a great guy, reminds me of Justin Langer a bit.
With Hussey gone and no Bailey in the side, I'd expect Watson to move down the order in Huss's place. I'd say the batting order should be

Cowan-Hughes-Khawaja-Clarke-Wade-Watson. Though if Watson is going to bowl ,they can go in with yet another batsman there, just to bolster the line-up.

Well this is basically what the selectors have been trying, the excuse being that Watson can bowl more if he bats lower, and the implication being that he'll somehow be injured less if he bats lower, which I find preposterous.

Problem is that this solution gives Australia 2 mediocre, arguably poor cricketers. Cowan averages 32.81 - not good enough, despite him and Warner having a reasonable record together. Combine that with Watson, who is worse down the order, and you can see why I say it produces 2 poor cricketers. (Watson averages about 25 I think when not opening - same happened for him in ODIs, much better success opening).

The better team would be to elevate Watson back to the top where he's more comfortable (averages in 40s opening) and play Bailey or another middle order guy instead of Cowan. Bailey would probably at least perform as well as Cowan has, plus you'd get the bonus of better performance out of Watson. I don't think Cowan is good enough that we should sacrifice Watson's strengths for him.

Should have stuck with the old fashioned logic of keeping the tourists in the field. Then again, you never know, maybe there was some goodwill between the captains, but Gambhir and Watson just seems a little unlikely.

Is this Fletcher's last series as India coach? Or do we have to bear with him for some more time? I don't mind Fletcher going out with another loss. Don't want any possibility of him having his time with the team extended due to a good series (with the BCCI, anything is possible).

On a serious note, India would be happy if they come out of this unscathed. One final hurrah for Tendulkar would be good. I wish his career ends like a well planned out movie script, in a GLORIOUS HIGH!

The performance of Tendulkar is to be noticed . I have no idea why he is not performing well in the international level ! He is in good form in "domestic" and most of the other Indian batsmen are also good in domestic level. But when it come to International level most of them aren't performing good.Hope that the Indian batsmen could bat well against Aussie .:yes:cheers

Aussie batsmen didn't perform well against spinners in the practice matches. So I hope that Ashwin,Ojha and Bhaji could make a strike against Australian batsmen .:D:D:D:D
