Australia Tour Of India 2012/13

Yeah, so true. A couple of poor series is sufficient to tarnish a glorious 24 year career. :thumbs Would you say the same about Hayden or Ponting`s careers also?

I have`nt spoken here for a while. Irrespective of whether Sachin has outlived his shelflife or has a miserable series against Australia, his career won`t be tarnished. The same goes for every other legend that has graced this great game. Yes, maybe its time for him to hang up his boots but he surely has done enough to have secured a glorious career, irrespective of how it ends.

Adi - What else do you expect from someone who hates Sachin with a passion?

----------

His career has already been tarnished, he is not even in the top 10 ranked batsman in the world he played so poorly against England just of recent, he will fail miserably against the AUS pace attack, he is a liabilitly and his old frail self gives India a good chance of being whitewashed for the series.

----------

Indian domestic cricket is the poorest of all the test playing nations including Zim and Bang, primarily due to the pitches on offer and general lack of bowling talent, so dont be naive and read too much into a century from losers like Sachin, similar thing occur before the Eng series and we all know how that ended. Ojha may be able to work some magic, Harbajan still needs anger management tuition when it comes to playing against the Aussies and Ashwin is a pure waste of a space in the final eleven.

OK, we know your crush for Sachin and Indian cricket. Move on....:rolleyes:p

I hate Sachin, lolz? God teaches us to love not hate my friend, probably your religion teaches otherwise.

My problem with guys like yourself and Aditya is how you so conveniently deny the fact that Sachin'S performance has been dwindling over the years, averages like 20 odd over the last two years and still he hasnt retired, continuing to block youngsters like Rahane and others.

Oh ho, this is what you come up with ow...:rolleyes You spoke words like "tarnished his career" blah blah just based on a 2 yr blip? A 20+ yr old career tarnished by a loss of form for 2 yrs? He is not obliged to retire. The selectors never dropped him. And frankly right now, even with his bad form, people always wait for that 'revival round the corner' because they know With Sachin, it's possible.

I didn't deny that Sachin is not in form. I was hoping for a revival. If sachin can revive back to form, I would want him to play forever. Because if he is in form, it helps Indian cricket. It will ate Sachin to using drugs or match fixing or that sort for him to tarnish his career...

While everyone's on Tendulkar's heel, it's fun that Ponting has now retired nobody can bitch about him anymore.

Anyway, why isn't Bird playing? Man of match in Sydney. A pitch that's most like India.

No radio coverage in Australia. BBCI have become so money hungry that they priced the ABC out of the market. In fact ABC reporters can't even file reports from inside the ground. :facepalm So I here by flip the BCCI The bird

Is there any way to get radio commentary or anything? Or else I'm back with the good old Cricinfo...

A revival after two odd years, haha thats like asking Ganguly to return, which if occurs surely he will do better than Sachin. You want Sachin to play forever, yeah he would use the bat as a walking stick soon hahah!

Since ha has retired from ODI the Indians have returned to the ODI top, without Sachin they are finally looking like world champs, without Sachin in the test team I expect them to do better in tests also.

So if Harbhajan is playing in final 11 than we can have Rahane at no 6. There is no point of going with 4 spinners.

Looking like world champs? so now for you, the flawed ICC rankings is the ideal determinator of world champs? Sachin has not been playing enough ODI's in recent times after the World Cup. He has been skipping quite a bit of it......

If Sachin is in form, who wouldn't want him to keep playing for as long as possible? Ask any Indian and he will say he would want an "in-form Sachin" and playing for as long as he is in-form.

P.s: If you think putting up Sachin DP's as avatars conveys sarcasm, you need to get checked, my friend!:p:D

Good thing that they announced Bhajji is playing. They should play Rahane at No.6 and have Ashwin and Ojha. I am tempted to pick Jadeja for Ashwin for the left arm spin variety, but Chennai is a home pitch for Ashwin and Ashwin is as good a bat (even better probably) than Jadeja now. Ashwin has a test century recently, and has scored runs overseas in recent times.

Yep.Play both Rahane and Jadeja and drop Ashwin. But that probably won't happen as Chennai is his home ground .If we indeed play Rahane and Jadeja then I don't think we really need any more batiing. However crappy Jadeja bats,Ashwin's bad bowling (if it continues that is) will hurt India more.

Oh wait! I completely forgot that Ojha is a left arm spinner too..:lol:D In that case, I will play Ashwin because of the home crowd factor and the fact that he can bat as well as Jadeja.

He will play. This is almost certain.I was just thinking wishfully.:)But seriously,Ashwin has been so bad off late that if it was up to me,I would still play Jadeja and leave out Ashwin even if that means playing 2 left hand spinners.Jadeja is not a turner anyway.

Also if Ashwin plays, there will be two offspinners of same kind as well,as Harbhajan is playing.

Test Match Sofa? But yeah, agree - it sucks, I remember listening to plenty of ABC tours of India - 2001 in particular sticks out.

Expected AUS team really. Although in a perfect world, Watson should be opening & Bailey should batting @ # 4.

However no surprises to see the selectors continue to back Cowan, it would always be hard to drop him.

Once Starc/Pattinson/Siddle bowl to potentially, i expect them to be on top on India's batting for a large part of this series.

ENG showed that India's spin threat in home conditions is in decline, but AUS batsmen have a lot of work to do collectively to bat as well as India did, which is why at this early stage i'm not sure how this series will end up. Too close to call still until the first test is played IMO.

Agree with this.

Interesting that Australia named their team a full 2 days out from the start of the match, without seeing what the final pitch looked like. Definitely a statement of 'we don't care what you do, this is our best XI come what may'. Still, it must be discouraging to Doherty or Maxwell who are ignored without seeing the conditions first. I personally would have picked Smith over Henriques - you get a small batting upgrade, and the option of another spinner. I probably wouldn't have used Smith much, but he'd be a reasonable partnership breaking option for 5 overs a day.

I'm guessing Henriques will be there to make sure the 3 quick bowlers can really charge in for their spells - maybe bowl less overs, but make sure they are 100% effort, particularly Patto and Starc. If I'm Clarke I probably share Siddle and Lyon from 1 end, and rotate Starc, Patto and Henriques from the other.

Game day! Feeling pretty excited this morning. Having more cricket so close after our summer is an interesting position though
