Australia's Tour Of India - 2008

Kumble great cricketer, finally retires, hats off to such humble cricketer, who gave always 100% on field,he had also played with broken jaw in WI ,and with broken fingers in this test,he was totally committed,he was a champion, more than 600 wickets, always cool-calm person, very intelligent player....Finally this day comes in everybody's life,to retire...

This is one of the most heart stopping days i've ever seen in cricket for me. Kumble, the Giant, The Jumbo, The legend, the everything.

I will always remember this:
"I have not decided to quit because of criticism, Criticism started 18 years ago"..
..

WHAT A LEGEND! LEGEND OF LEGENDS!

BCCI should have let Kumble played te last test match. This is absolute ridiculous. He served for 18 years and this is the reward he got  due to a series failure. Long Live Jumbo

And what exactly where they meant to do? Force him to play against his will?

Laxman might be in the same league as the other three in the Fab Four, but he's only 34, he's got heaps of time left in him.

Am I the only one who felt a bit teary there? :crying

I'm real dissapointed. Sure i grumbled a lot but he was one of my favourite players. Loved how he gave everything 110%. Well since Bhajji is most likely injured who's gonna be our next spinner? Chawla? Ohja?

Well done to Kumble on a great career. He is a true champion of the game and a great servant for Indian cricket. I was hoping that he would go on for another game but I guess he made the right decision.

Pretty happy with the way Aussies fought back after Mohali match. They had the chance to finish us in this game. Its not often you see a side make 600+ and still battle to save a test in the last day. We improved a bit from the last game (specially Lee, Hayden and Clarke) so we should take bit of momentum to the last game.

After all the so called ' Indian dominance' its just 1-0. Win in Nagpur and the trophy is ours. If we win the toss , you just never know what can happen. But one thing we do know is that Aussies will come out breathing fire. Cmon Aussies!!!

The thing about this is that to win test matches, you have to take 20 wickets and just as this game has proven, it really doesn't matter how many runs you get. If you take a look at our bowling this match we only managed 12 which is a worry. We definitely need to drop White and bring in a new specialist such as Bollinger or Casson to which might weaken the batting a bit but hopefully the extra wickets will even that out.

Or even try Krezja. He's untested, working with Bishin Bedi and the Indian batters aren't going to treat him with much respect.

Bishan Bedi is a chucker himself. Enough said. Our Abhinav, Who met him also got some of his unkind words, Abhi's a wicket-Keeper and Bedi called him a "Chucker"..

Afterall, a chucker calls other a chucker.

Drop White for Krejza. Krejza is nothing special from what I have seen but atleast he can spin the ball. If Shewag can get 5 wickets , Krejza should be able to do something.

One more thing , India need to prepare pitches with something for the bowlers. These pitches give nothing to the bowlers and teams keep making these huge scores. Its really not a great advertisment for test cricket, test cricket should be a battle between bat and ball. This Aus-Ind series was supposed to be huge but people are losing interest because of these boring high scoring draws.

Lot of experts and fans agree that 05 Ashes was one of the best battles ever. Ball dominating the bat had a fair bit to do with it IMO. Watching class batsmen trying to negate top quality swing/seam bowlers is one of the great things about cricket. Its much better than batsmen making 300 runs per day everyday. They have 2 very good pace bowlers as well, if the pitches have something for them India will win more matches.

It will be very disappointing if this series ended 1-0 after all the hype. With Twenty20 taking over test cricket might find it hard to survive in places like India if this trend with pitches continues.....

Well, If AUS would have been a little quick to pick Krejza for the third test, as he might've done something as Sehwag has proved.

But well, you or we, never knew sehwag would pick 5 wickets in the match, don't we? Australia will need to examine the pitch And pick carefully. I think they'll get some new players, for sure.

Cam white is more of a batsman. He was selected in Bangalore Royal Challengers purely due to his batting ability. I'd be pretty interested in seeing how Krezja does, especially in the sub continent. They should select Krezja for the final test, that too after he got a few tips from Bishan Singh Bedi.

I think that if it does deteriorate into another spinner's pitch, we can't be having Cameron White as our spinner. Krezja, as untried and rubbish as he might be, at least could get some spin and cause some trouble. There is absolutely no point in playing Cameron White as our main spinner, he's not a big turner of the ball and this won't change between now and the next Test. Get Terry Jenner working on him and see if he eventually can get it turning, but you would think it would have happened by now.

Picking Cameron White is just picking the safely wrong option. It's like conceding defeat before a rock-paper-scissors game, there is a chance we could win but we're just willing to lose without trying it.

Ashwin. :D

But I would seriously consider it, it would be a bit of variety to go with Mishra too. He was on fire at the Challengers, but it probably is too big a step up, so quickly.
