IPL Chennai Super Kings - Raise your hands for the best team in IPL

so csk 3rd team to qualify for clt20 and also making their 3rd appearance in clt20 equals the record with rcb

If CSK wins it will be a dream run for Dhoni.

First defeated Harbhajan/Sachin - Harbhajan had filed a court case against Dhoni
Then defeated Sehwag - Everyone knows about the Sehwag-Dhoni rift
And finally Gambhir - Gambhir had made comments during the tour to Australia raising doubts on Dhoni as a finisher and along with Sachin had supported Sehwag in the rift.

Sachin never took sides in the so-called rift that happened. And did Harbhajan file a court case against Dhoni or against the people who produced that AD?

As far as I know Sachin did question Dhoni's tactics publicly, especially in the press conference conducted in Mumbai after the team he scored his 100th ton against Bangladesh.

And yes, Harbhajan did file a case. I have no idea of what the outcome was.

Just to clear your doubts

(1) Harbhan did not file a case against Dhoni but he filed the case against Vijay Malya because the AD film was made by his company.

(2) Yes, everyone knows about Sehwag-Dhoni rift and as soon as we loose some big event, it suddenly comes into the limelight but when we win a big event it solves by itself. Sourav Gangully said he was able to solve the rift between them but I highly doubt that.

(3) Gambhir must be blind if he doubt Dhoni's ability as a finisher. Dhoni is the best finisher right now in World Cricket.

(4) Sachin has not taken any side on this rift. Whenever he was asked any question regarding this "rift", he has refused to answer it.

A side that has performed consistently over IPL history, more so in the big situations. The final loss to KKR was heartbreaking, but for a good part of the match, Chennai were in a dominant position, and they quickly struck at KKR and brought the game back to even keel when Bisla and Kallis were running away.. They were probably overconfident after getting Gambhir cheaply, and hope they dont do that mistake again.

Plus: Our overseas players, especially Hilfenhaus, Bravo, Hussey, Morkel and Faf Du Plessis. And our excellent fielding throughout the tournament. The unity of the team, and our consistent super showing in the big games.

Minus: Our spinners, especially Ashwin's average run. The indifferent form of our Indian players, more so Dhoni and Raina. And the flop buy of the overhyped Jadeja who wasn't even used properly.

Seeing our performance in the tournament overall, one might think a place in the final was lucky for Chennai. But the team performed when it most mattered and thats why we ended up second best in the tournament.

That's why I'd prefer a season league. Just doing it right at the required times won't get you a spot in a league system.

Last year, when Ashwin was called to bowl. Everyone will think there will be a wicket-loss. He was deadly.

This year, he su*ked.

Too many off-spinners have forgotten the craft of turning the ball in the normal way and focus too much on "doosra", "Teesra" and carom ball etc. Also most spinners seem to have forgotten how to flight the ball and still beat the bat.

I think this trend began with Saqlain Mushtaq, who eventually lost the potency of his main off-spinner because he bowled too much variation.

T20 cricket isn't doing any favours to the craft of spin bowling. I think, as an Indian, I'd like to see the BCCI protect our better international prospects, especially Test-level bowlers, and keep them away from the IPL. I mean even promising fast bowlers like Umesh Yadav need to be protected from the IPL nonsense if they are to be developed as Test cricketers...

Agree! The attacking nature of bowlers gets lost due to T20 cricket where bowlers fear getting thrashed all over the park and get too defensive. Ashwin started off really well when he attacked batsmen, but now all he does is trying to contain runs (for him and people like him, getting a wicket now is like a bonus). He keeps on bowling to the batsman's pads with a pre-dominantly legside field. Same problem that happened with Harbhajan. These days, we praise bowlers who end up with a good economical rate but no wickets.

We dont really have a single spinner today in India who is not afraid to toss the ball up often and invite the batsman to go after him.

why sudeep tyagi dint played a single match in last two seaaon ?

Yup he should have given chance instead of Yomi in a match.
Also many foreign players haven't got chance. They must have tried with them atleast in early stages.

Yes, why do off spinners keep bowling around the wicket to right handers all the time? I can understand it as a variation, but it is a negative strategy. Batsmen have learned to adopt to it by stepping out and going over extra cover inside out.
