IPL 2013 news : Muttiah Muralitharan dismayed with IPL ruling on Sri Lankan players in Chennai | Cricket News | Indian Premier League | ESPN Cricinfo

My stance has changed drastically now about politics and sport not going together. When the sport happens to be followed with religious fashion by an overwhelming amount of general public, it ceases to be just a sport and it becomes a tool for politics.

Have you seen the videos of the "war killing fields" in Sri Lanka where they have indulged in genocide against Tamil people? It was disgusting to say the least.... To me, Sri Lankan players should not play any sport in India until Sri Lankan government is brought to justice.

I have and thus I can see why people are getting emotional about this, but I just don't think it's "right" to ban the innocent players for it. What exactly have the players done to deserve this? I mean why are we (the public) looking at these players for something that they're not?

----------

It would make sense if say Sangakkara was this hated SL'n figure (in Tamil Nadu) for supporting the genocide or something silly, but that's not even the case, none of these players have done anything in anyway to support what's happened in SL.

Its not that those players did anything wrong. When Sri Lankan players visit Tamil Nadu, they are guests and they have to be extended good hospitality. How can you provide them hospitality when their countrymen (i.e. the Sri Lankan government) has indulged in all kinds of cruel activities against Tamil people? Its just like the Pakistan issue. The players or most of their general public didn't do anything wrong. But the hate for the country stems from the actions of a few individuals who do the wrong things and create hatred amongst us.

You might ask "those sri lankan tamils are not indians, they just speak the same language". But to me, its human nature where you empathize with someone who has similar traits as you do.

In a way, I am kinda happy that this "Sri Lanka vs Tamils" issue has come to the forefront of international limelight. For too long, it has been hanging on the back burner.

I would never ever say that(the they're not Tamils, we just happen to share the language bit), one of my close friends is an Eelam and thus I understand what they've gone through and what they still go through. My dad is also a very pro Tamil kinda guy(we argued about this yesterday AND this morning, we'll probably be arguing about it tonight as well. :p)

Guess I'm just not wired that way, I can't hate or even remotely dislike a group or a community for say what a few idiots have done. Totally understandable, just not something I support, that's all.

Yeah, that's one positive I take out of all of this, while it's at the expense of innocent players, a message has been sent.

Neither do I hate "Sri Lankans" (or even "Pakistanis" for that matter). Its just that I don't want my country to have any dealings with them until they are brought to justice (or if they change and correct their mistakes).

all sri lankan players escaped because one day a srilankan Buddhist came to india to visit temples.but the Tamil people beat him at the temple itself

What??? Don't be so happy about it... If this really happened, I am so ashamed of my fellow Tamilians who have indulged in a criminal act. Taking law into your own hands is a crime. Not letting Sri Lankans come to Tamil Nadu in protest of the crimes is one thing. But if someone comes, you have to gracefully send him back. In this case, you can ask "what did that Buddhist guy do to deserve that treatment"?

If Sri Lankan issue was with any other place like Mumbai or Delhi;people will agree with such a decision to ban Lankan players without any words. But since its Tamil Nadu : people start criticizing us and start stupid Srinivasan Dhoni CSK Controversy.
People always look TN seperately from India.
Regional politics at its peak in India.Forget Lanka or Pakistan,we have worser politics among us.Regional politics is the biggest shame a country can have. You can see even a few members here from Hydrabad,Delhi etc always criticizing Chennai and Tamil Nadu for no reason.Just because their franchise was defeated by CSK every time, they say Srinivasan has fixed the IPL.Why do people have such cheap mentality?First solve the regional politics and then go to the national politics.India is getting worser everyday.Just waiting for a day where the regional politics will first end and India will be united.Thank god i am in my last year of engineering and i am almost ready to catch the next flight to USA/UK to pursue my masters.I just pity for the youngsters who are going to face worser politics with their friends in Delhi and Mumbai or Bangalore and Hydrabad abusing them just because they are from Tamil Nadu.

Why do you want Bravo that high and Badrinath that low? Badri cannot score that quickly and Bravo can hit those big shots with ease. Swap their respective positions, and your team looks good for the first game.
