England's tour of India - 2021

The ODI WC will remain as the pinnacle of the sport but the meaningless bilateral ODIs can die preferably. Have more T20Is like the NZ Board and a few other higher profile ODI tournaments to keep the format relevant.

In the end though, I really don't see a future for ODIs and had it not been for the WC it would have already died. ODIs have been the ugly duckling for quite some time now and that format has never been quite right considering the number of significant rule changes it has been subjected to in comparison with the other two formats.

The best way to make a 'One Day' International relavent is to break the match in 4 innings of 25 overs each. Club Tests and T20 formats in one to save the ODIs.

Sachin had recommended this quite sometime back, but he was shot down and was roasted for his opinion.

I wouldn't mind seeing ODI being converted into 4 individual T20 type innings (a mini test that happens within a single day). Toss factor reduced because both teams get a taste of both types of conditions. And entertainment factor increased because batsmen will be more adventurous to maximize their scoring...

Also helps the advertisers and broadcasters, which is a serious 'factor' in today's day and age.

Great point there, never a fan of the split inns for ODi but I can see a plus with the broadcasters indeed!

Hmmm.

England (fans) blamed the pitches in test matches and were told to look at the technique of the batsman.

Indian blaming the rules after getting hammered in an ODI. Maybe they should look at their bowlers...

If our first line of bowlers were playing England wouldn't have it their way.

Even more than that, what is in England's favour is India's captaincy. Opposition always starts 50 runs ahead.

Can someone who is smart with stats pull up a stat on Kuldeep and Chahal's numbers pre and post Dhoni's retirement?

I have a feeling it will expose a bit of the tactical genius of our leadership side of things.

Apologies in advance for discussing cricket as there's nothing to be happy or sad about anything today and it's a covid times Saturday night.

Other than Kohli bad what's your point? Was it not his captaincy that won the previous match?I assume it's case that for someone people when India win it's down to individual performance and when they lose it's down to the captain. Kuldeep bowled absolute garbage yesterday and the match before.

You're basically saying Kuldeep and Chahal aren't good enough to play without someone holding their hand telling them what to do. Are they babies?

Kuldeep averages 37.5 v England and Chahal 111.5. England absolutely battered them in the World Cup what was Dhoni doing then?
