Story FTP: I've never been one for titles

Yeah, I did that ages ago :p

Now the only players that haven't been part of my youth squad at some stage in my starting XI from that game is O'Leary, Delaney and Dharson. And I bought Delaney a few days ago and O'Leary joined the club as soon as he turned 20 so yeah :p

Pettinger with a Poor Performance But Hedger's Team Over The Line

James Pettinger had a horrible day behind the stumps, putting down 3 catches but Hedger's Team's bowling was too strong for Chewie CC as they bowled the visitors out for 165, as the Chewie CC batsmen couldn't get on top of the bowlers on a tough pitch for batting.

Victor Dharson put Chewie CC on the back foot early, taking the big wicket of Kip in the third over, trapping him in front for 3 and Lindeman made his way to the crease, hoping to do better than rival, Ruben Mol's score of 9. He got off the mark with a 3 through the offside but couldn't add to that as Mol had the last laugh, Lindeman pulling Bollinger away, but straight to Mol on the boundary who took a relatively simple catch. Ganguly and Tsolekile battled through to bring up the 50, but Bollinger struck again, Dharson taking a simple catch to dismiss Ganguly for 24. Tendulkar batted nicely to support Tsolekile, although dropped by Pettinger on 12, but Bollinger with a sharp bit of fielding had Tendulkar on his way, run out for 23. Khalil joined the skipper at the crease as they battled to 123/4 after 31 overs, leaving 4.42 runs per over required.

Whiteman put the visitors right on the back foot though, as Khalil edged the spinner to O'Leary at slip, on his way for 12, before he got through the defenses of Tsolekile, bowling him through the gate for a hard worked 47. Pettinger dropped his second catch the following over and the keeper was not having a great day behind the stumps. It got even worse for him when he dropped Richter the following over, Yousif shaking his head. He made up for it a few overs later, as Yousif's medium pace bowling brought Richter out of his crease as he lunged at the ball and Pettinger, made a smart bit of work behind the stumps to stump Richter for 6 and Chewie CC were 144/7. Tindall then ran out Friesen for a duck and Chewie CC were in deep trouble. Yousif seemed to put the game beyond all doubt when he got the wicket of Campbell, Dharson taking another catch. Shariki and Connor continued for a couple of overs, maybe putting the visitors in with a chance but poor running cost them again as Delaney had ample time to throw the ball in, and Shariki was well short of his game, run out for 21, as Chewie CC were bowled out for 165, Hedger's Team winning by 41 runs.

Toss: Hedger's Team (Elected to bat)
Result: Hedger's Team 206/9 (O'Leary 65*, Yousif 37, Connor 3/29, Campbell 3/58) def. Chewie CC 165 a.o. (Tsolekile 47, Ganguly 24, Bollinger 2/27, Whiteman 2/29) by 41 runs
MOTM: Markus Connor (3/29 off 10 overs, 1 catch and 3* off 4)

Goedhart and Yousif Bowl Hedger's Team to Victory

It wasn't the biggest crowd in Hedger's Team first home match in their newly upgraded stadium, only bringing in 10,554 for the T20 match against 7th placed side, Globo Gym Purple Cobras. After winning the toss, Young decided to bowl first, standing in place of Ruben Mol, with Mol and Pettinger going out for Young and O'Leary while Juffermans kept his spot in the side.

It was a bright start for Globo Gym Purple Cobras though, scoring 32 runs off the first 3.5 overs, but Goedhart got the needed breakthrough, Mackay edging to O'Leary at slip for 14. Silva had a game that he would want to forget when Omara ran him out for a diamond duck, and he just shook his head as he walked back to the pavilion. Juffermans copped a bit of stick, going for 20 from his first 2 overs, but it was Yousif who put the visitors right on the back foot, with 2 wickets in his first over. Omara was given a bowl to the surprise of the home fans, but a cheer was given to the Canadian batsman. He went for 12 runs from 2 overs before he was taken out of the attack. Yousif added another 2 wickets in his final over, finishing with figures of 4/10, as Globo Gym Purple Cobras had slipped to 93/6. Juffermans got the big wicket of Brodie for 28 but his figures of 1/33 might put his spot under pressure for the next match. Goedhart nearly had the wicket of Wambugu when Whiteman dropped him at mid on, but Goedhart made no mistake two balls later, as he took a sharp catch off his own bowling. Awad then was dismissed for a golden duck, as he edged the Netherland's medium pace bowler through to van der Hoeven who took a simple catch. Lansing couldn't take the final wicket in his next over so Goedhart had a chance at his hattrick. And he had it... Until O'Keeffe spilled a simple catch and Goedhart had reason to be disappointed. He got the final wicket later in the over though, as a perfectly executed yorker left Butler with nowhere to go, and he was trapped in front for 3, Goedhart finishing with 4/25, Globo Gym Purple Cobras bowled out for 101.

Chasing only a small total, O'Keeffe got Hedger's Team off to a great start, pulling a short ball away over the fine leg boundary for a six. it took only 5.4 overs to bring up the fifty partnership and it seemed like the result was all but settled. Clarke got the treatment in his first over, hit for two huge sixes by O'Leary, conceding 16 runs in his opening over. O'Keeffe would have been happy when he brought up his fifty in the 11th over and O'Leary scored the winning run in the following over, finishing on 46* off 30 as Hedger's Team won by 10 wickets with 7.5 overs to spare. With that win, Hedger's Team is all but guaranteed second position, with Royal Greens beating Tilley Thunder to remain undefeated, still remaining 8 points ahead of Hedger's Team who sit 12 points ahead of third placed Salcette Sharks.

Toss: Hedger's Team (Elected to bowl)
Result: Hedger's Team 102/0 (O'Keeffe 50*, O'Leary 46*, Awad 0/13, Wambugu 0/13) def. Globo Gym Purple Cobras 101 a.o. (Dixon 33, Brodie 28, Yousif 4/10, Goedhart 4/25) by 10 wickets with 53 balls remaining
MOTM: Aladdin Yousif (4/10 off 4 overs)

Can't believe what Yousif did .:p

And an easy win for our youth side today against bottom placed Ruswarp Ponies. Gieling's 3/15 (5.4) along with Juffermans tight spell of bowling of 2/13 (8) with 4 maidens and 2/25 from Lowik had Ruswarp Ponies bowled out for 128. The Hedger's Team openers had no problem chasing down the meagre total, skipper Van Katwijk leading the way with 70* off 56 while De Rooy scored 51* off 54 as Hedger's Team won by 10 wickets with 22 overs to spare.

O'Leary and Yousif Demoralise RanGerZ XI

Hedger's Team made a few changes to their normal starting eleven, with van der Hoeven and O'Keeffe coming in, with Yousif given a chance up the order at #5. Whiteman was rested meanwhile as Hedger opted for an extra fast bowler, with Lansing coming into the side. After winning the toss, Tindall elected to bat first, with a hope of a big total.

It was a solid start for Delaney and Young as they worked their way to 33/0 after 6 overs, but it was Delaney who couldn't capitalise on another start, as he hooked Brown straight down the throat of Vernon at fine leg for 14. Young looked set for another high score before he got a great bouncer from Patel and a top edge was taken by Madhuku, Young out for 35. Omara had a slow start but took a lot of the pressure off when he used the pace of Nasser to hook him over square leg for six. He added to that a couple of overs later with another six, slog sweeping Veldboom over mid-wicket. O'Leary got into the action himself with a six off Veldboom and the spinner was not impressed, as the two batsman brought up the fifty partnership. They kept going until Omara joined his Canadian mate in the pavilion as he edged Brown behind for 34. At drinks, Hedger's Team were 136/3 and they would have been hoping for around 270.

O'Leary brought up his fifty a few overs later, coming off 53 balls before Yousif got into the action himself with a four and a six in consecutive balls, putting the visitors on the back foot. There was really nothing in it for the bowlers as O'Leary and Yousif had no trouble scoring runs. Yousif got lucky though, when he was dropped by Salgado on 48 and brought up his fifty in the next over. Veldboom was not having an easy time, leaking runs and was not happy when a misfield by Patel cost him another boundary while O'Leary moved onto 99. Yousif decided to steal the strike for a couple of overs though and was dropped again, this time on 75 as he passed his highest score in One Day cricket. O'Leary brought up his 14th career One Day century with a leg glance for 2 and he was over the moon. He was then dropped a couple of overs later on 107 while Yousif looked for his first career century. With 3 overs remaining, Yousif was on 95* but struggled to get much of the strike, while the 200 run partnership was brought up off 145 balls as Hedger's Team looked set for 350. Yousif only faced one ball in the next over, leaving him on 97* with 1 over remaining. He had reason not to be happy with O'Leary though as he kept the strike for 4 balls, bringing up his 150 in the meantime, and scored a 2 off the fifth ball, meaning Yousif would be stranded on 97. In the end, Hedger's Team managed 354/3, O'Leary finishing 154* off 116 and Yousif finishing 97* off 85.

Engelbrecht Century Not Enough as RanGerZ XI Fall Short

Chasing down such a huge total, RanGerZ XI needed to get off to a strong start, but were on the back foot immediately though as Dharson dismissed Vernon for 3 in the first over, Delaney taking a simple catch, his first for the club. Massie then edged Bollinger behind for 9 and RanGerZ XI were in deep trouble at 19/2. Engelbrecht and Salgado rebuilt the innings though, bringing up the fifty partnership in only 38 balls as the visitors showed they weren't going down without a fight. Tindall copped a lot in his first few overs, going for 30 off his first 3, but Bollinger got the wicket of Salgado though, with O'Keeffe taking a simple catch at mid-off. Lansing was disappointed when Young spilled a tough chance at slip and definitely wasn't having much luck as van der Hoeven dropped one in his following over. Engelbrecht had a go at Yousif before the drinks break, hitting him for two sixes in an over, as RanGerZ XI went into drinks at 166/3, and Hedger's Team had reason to start worrying, Engelbrecht now on 95* off 73.

Engelbrecht brought up his century in the 29th over, coming off 81 deliveries, while the 100 partnership came in that over, off 90 balls. Dharson then had a bad over, conceding 15 runs as Matiba brought up his half century and the fast bowler was not having a great time as he backed that up with a 14 run over. Lansing was brought back into the attack, with immediate success, as Engelbrecht top edged the quick bowler straight down the throat of Yousif at third man, out for 120 and Hedger's Team were relieved. Dharson's horror finish to his spell continued as he conceded 16 in his last over, finishing with figures of 1/79 from 10 overs. With 13 overs remaining, RanGerZ XI were 269/4, now right on top, with only 6.62 runs per over needed. Yousif backed up his 97 with a needed wicket, as Matiba edged him through to van der Hoeven who made no mistake and the set batsman was on his way for 72. The skipper, Hussey was disappointed at himself when he was out for a golden duck, Yousif striking again, Delaney taking his second catch. Lansing then got himself a deserved wicket, as Yousif took another catch as his spectacular all-round performance continued, Patel on his way for 7 and Madhuku sitting on 27* off 17 needed to get his team over the line.

Yousif finished his day with yet another wicket, as Veldboom cut straight to Lansing at point for 12 as Yousif finished with figures of 3/62, RanGerZ XI now 307/8, leaving them 48 runs required from the last 6 overs. It seemed all over though as Tindall brought himself back on, and had Madhuku trapped in front for 41. He nearly finished it off in that over, but Lansing put down a sitter, the fifth dropped catch of the innings. Bollinger finished off the visitors though as Brown could do nothing but chip it straight to Omara at short mid-wicket, RanGerZ XI all out for 312, Bollinger finishing with 3/46 as Hedger's Team won by 42 runs. In a close run, Aidan O'Leary was awarded MOTM for his 154* off 116, edging out Yousif by a point who scored 97* off 85, took 3/62 and took 2 catches.

Toss: Hedger's Team (Elected to Bat)
Result: Hedger's Team 354/3 (O'Leary 154*, Yousif 97*, Brown 2/49, Patel 1/71) def. RanGerZ XI 312 a.o. (Engelbrecht 120, Matiba 72, Bollinger 3/46, Yousif 3/62) by 42 runs
MOTM: Aidan O'Leary (154* off 116 balls)

Good to see O'Leary performing well because its a key to success for a team that its players perform well not just seniors but juniors too and a manager like hedger who keeps an eye on his junior squad too will surely effect the future senior squad .:thumbs :p:p

Crane Completes Bundy Bashers Move

With the purchase of Canadian batsman, Brayden Delaney, there was rumour that Craig Crane would be leaving the club. Today, they have announced the sale of the Zimbabwean batsman for a fee of $315,625, the third highest fee received for one single transfer, behind the sales of Malcolm Elgin ($363,802) and Barry Healy ($330,750). Crane had a solid career at Hedger's Team, becoming the fifth highest youth run scorer for the club, with 1558 runs @ 47.21, with 3 centuries. He backed up that record with good performances in the senior squad, playing 46 Twenty20 matches, for 866 runs @ 43.30, with a high score of 112, along with a further 3 half centuries. He also played well in the One Day arena, playing 29 matches, scoring 1187 runs @ 42.39, including 3 centuries and 6 fifties with a high score of 166.

Goedhart Stars in Emphatic Victory

Hedger's Team recorded an easy victory over bottom placed, Flying Hippos CC who were unable to pose any sort of challenge to the visitors. Hedger's Team made a few changes to their side, giving senior debuts to Jans Vierhouten, Quentin Lindhoud and Bastiaan Gieling, although van der Hoeven kept the gloves in hand, with Vierhouten only playing as a batsman. Juffermans also kept his place in the side after a couple of impressive performances in the T20 side.

Winning the toss, Mol elected to bat first, with him and Vierhouten opening the batting. Bevan had a horrible start as his first ball was short and wide, and Mol cut him behind point for a boundary. Read contributed to that horrible start as he conceded 17 runs in his first over as Mol had gotten off to a bright start, with 16* off 7. He then hit back to back boundaries off Bevan before he paid the price for his aggressive batting, as he tried to flick one over mid wicket off middle stump, but missed the ball completely and was given out LBW. Vierhouten scored his first boundary the following over and made it two in that over, with a nice delicate late cut for four. Delaney hit a couple of boundaries before he edged through to Turner for 17 off 10. It was all Hedger's Team after that though as the youth and senior keeper combined in a strong partnership, bringing up the 50 partnership in only 30 balls. Vierhouten was ecstatic when he brought up his half century on senior debut, hitting 4 boundaries in his 31 ball fifty. Lars van der Hoeven brought up his first senior half century with a boundary through the covers. Vierhouten looked to increase the run rate further with back to back boundaries before van der Hoeven dispatched Bubb over his head for six. Vierhouten's impressive debut innings came to an end as he chipped Haydar straight to Read at cover for 66 off 43 balls. Lindhoud was off the mark first ball with a 3 and looked to put a mark on the game with a six with his second ball, hooking Haydar over fine leg. Lars van der Hoeven continued his impressive innings with another six, before Quentin Lindhoud showed his class with another six over mid wicket. His quickfire innings came to an end though as he charged down the wicket to Davis but missed the ball and Turner did the rest, Lindhoud on his way for 28 off only 11 balls. Lars van der Hoeven finished with 76* off 45 with O'Keeffe not out on 8, as Hedger's Team finished with 224/4.

HTvFH-1stInn.png

Lansing didn't get off to a good start with the ball, being hit for back to back boundaries, but he had his man, as he trapped Griffiths in front later in the over. Goedhart showed his skills though as he took the edge of Bradley, taken by Mol at first slip before Murphy got a leading edge to Lindhoud at point for a golden duck, and Goedhart was on a hattrick. Goedhart got the edge with his hattrick ball but Turner was glad to see it land just short of Vierhouten at second slip. Lansing took his second wicket as Turner edged the quick bowler through to van der Hoeven for 4. Tazelaar thought he could take Goedhart on, but was beaten by a change in pace and only managed to chip the ball up for Gieling to take a simple catch at mid on. Bubb decided to leave his first ball but Goedhart got the ball to nip back and the umpire had no hesitation in giving him out LBW for a golden duck and Goedhart was on a hattrick for the second time in the match. Davis managed to keep it out though, but Flying Hippos CC were in deep trouble at 16/6, Goedhart having taken 4/1 off 2 overs. Gieling got his first chance to bowl, and started well, only conceding 1 off his first over. Surprisingly, Goedhart was taken out of the attack as Juffermans was brought into the attack and didn't have the best start as he conceded 13 runs from his first 1.5 overs before he got Davis coming down the wicket to him and the flight beat him as van der Hoeven completed the stumping. Yousif got a wicket with his first ball, as Elme chipped the ball back to him for a relatively simple return catch and Flying Hippos CC were now 37/8. Juffermans made his figures look a lot better, as he took the final 2 wickets to finish with 3/13, Hedger's Team winning by 187 runs. Goedhart's 4/1 earned him the MOTM award.

Toss: Hedger's Team (Elected to bat)
Results: Hedger's Team 224/4 (van der Hoeven 76*, Vierhouten 66*, Haydar 2/53, Davis 1/40) def. Flying Hippos CC 37 a.o. (Elme 12, Griffith 8, Goedhart 4/1, Juffermans 3/13) by 187 runs
MOTM: Evert Goedhart (4/1 off 2 overs)
