New Zealand in Bangladesh, October 2010/11

I wonder how he got into that.
Get him to give you a shout out in his cricinfo commentary :p

Not sure but I think he might:

[name removed] has been hired by Cricinfo as a scorer and commentator for their live match coverage of the Black Caps ODIs in Bangladesh. Looking forward to it, hope you will join me on Tuesday the 5th October for Game 1

haha I'm not that close to him, especially since he was a year above me at school. I've talked to him a number of times though, but not recently.

I thought Cricinfo had fixed contracted commentators, but seeing from this I guess not.

It's pretty difficult to score all the fast action as they do. Did he get some training of how to commentate?

I'm not sure. He wants to become a sports journalist in the future, and has had something published on Cricinfo before (A page 2 thing about a match he went to).

I suppose Bangladesh v New Zealand isn't really a series that will get a hell of a lot of attention with Australia v India going on anyway.

Why would anyone want that "job". 100+ overs of WRITING commentary. You wont be able to enjoy the game either. And if you are not interested in that match, you are screwed even more.

Are you nuts? Working for cricinfo is a dream job for most people here. I'd rather work for them than get a high paying job at Goldman or KPMG or some other drone like finance career.

I was talking about commentary writing job, not working for Cricinfo. But still, no. I don't wanna work for them (not that they would take me, if they did, I wouldn't), I like my intern job at bank of America

He is a fanatical cricket supporter. Normally supports India, but has lived in NZ for quite some time and also supports us. He wants to be a sports journalist, and a job like this is the perfect beginning into bigger and better things. You don't automatically start writing articles for Cricinfo, you have to start small.

Any idea why the practice match wasn't played today?

Also can this be stickied? :)

Oh so we might not even get any warmups? :(

hey don't. when we were down there, there wasn't any WU match. At least you have it on the fixture :D

I've read on the article that it has been raining for 15 days and that the Mirpur stadium is only two hours from this stadium. So the whole ODI series could be washed out.
