Pakistan Tour of Australia 2009/10

Yep I remember seeing his 1st MCG test tone in 97 v SA, it was a painfully slow day, Australia battled to tea at 4/100 odd, then Punter unleashed on Donald and Pollock- both at their peak- and it was glorious to watch.

George Bailey IMO should be selected if they go by form. Has had some brilliant innings, he can also play any type, defensive, normal or agressive. His innings was great in that all stars match.

I've been lucky enough to see all his tons at the 'G live, bar the '97 one.

I think I might have actually cried last year after he got 99. I was looking forward so much to just screaming out after he got a double ton in the game, which he has done at three other grounds but not the 'G. It was going to beat Sunny Gavaskar's record for the most double tons and then he 'passed the guard' to Graeme Smith at short cover. I died a little on the inside.

Damn you Bay 13 persistent clappers who put him off! But his 257 was great, 120 odd in 2005 was brilliant and last year's pair of innings a couple of the greatest I've seen.

Not bad by Bailey, if he had got a 100 things would have been a lot better. Its not often you see a State side getting owned, so its a good start for Pakistan.

The contenders in my order would be;
Hughes (Just come off a ton)
Marsh (Come off an 82 and an unbeaten ton in one match)
Klinger (Unbeaten 200, unbeaten 100 in one week)
Voges (Goes pretty well, unbeaten 50 this week, unbeaten 50s in last week's shield match)
Bailey (Very solid without dominating, but he would get the job done)
Cowan (Double ton early on, another ton and a fifty as well)
White (I don't know lol)
Robinson (Eh, he might be 28, but Klinger's 29 and raping, I don't see why Robinson can't)

I'm picking the selectors order is something like:
Hughes
White/Bailey
Marsh
Steven Smith
Voges
Klinger

I think White is ahead of Bailey but the media have been talking about Bailey a fair bit.

Klingers got an awesome record of late, as AJ has been showing me in an MSN convo =D He deserves a go, thats for sure. I would love to see Hughes back in obviously, and I'm hoping its him, but if its not then I wouldnt mind seeing Klinger.

Klinger's got the recent form and he's got the consistency now too having done it last year and backed it up this year. Considering the double century at the MCG, a ground he is familiar enough with, I wouldn't mind seeing him called up.

White would be good too, he's the future and I think long term as a captaincy possibility, giving him test exposure in the top order is a good idea. He's also got a lot of experience at the MCG, so that's a big positive.

Well they've said that they're definitely going to call up a backup batsman for the squad, so at least we'll be seeing somebody new/ish around the squad.

Marsh has to be given a go in test cricket sometime, he's looked the goods at international level, has no obvious technique flaws, is very classy too. Personally, I like all 3 main contenders- Bailey, Hughes and Marsh, i'd pick all 3! But i'd settle for Hughes, he must be 1st to be picked, in form and has experience at test level.

Pak are looking a much more ominously threatening side.

they're killing tasmania and Kaneria and Asif aren't on and they will be definitely be threats

Here is the stats for this sheffield shield season. I think Marsh has to be picked. Hughes has obvious technique flaws. If you are looking for a solid number 3 Marsh is your man. He has a brilliant ODI record too and could even be a permanant replacement for Ponting. Bringing in Hughes means you need to re shuffle the order and why reshuffle a top order which is doing so well.

Well at least this series looks to be actually be competitive. Any team that can smash Tasmania, is a damn fine team;)
