Sri Lanka A tour of Australia, June-July 2010

Paranavitana had a dip at O'Keefe and hit him for two sixes and a four in his first over. The next over he gave a nick to George and from then up to the tea break, the right handers were more sedate against the left arm spinner.

George! all 5 wickets

Thought Chandimal was going to dominate, but ended with 54. In fact all of the top four showed good signs; they should be cursing themselves for not going on.

Looks like the pitch has died down for the spinners, George awesomeness though. Needed that as looks like SL A could chase down our target. Should be a cracker day tomorrow if SL survive.

Hilfanhaus scores a half century this shows how pathetic and crappy the lankan bowling attack is.

Looks like Hilfy's been working on the batting while he's been out. Good on ya fella. A strength of the Aussie side has always been to have a good tail.

The new ball is given to Hilfenhaus who starts outside off, but finds the off stump line with the last ball of the over and gets the hard jab from Kulasekara. He's caught at third slip, ending a stoic 90 run, 33 over partnership. Chamara Silva is still there with a 50 and he might be playing a knock that will get him recalled to the big team.

It's not to be. He goes to turn Hilfenhaus into the legside, but is found lbw for 58. Soon after, Senanayake is Hilfy's 3rd. Looks like he's finding his stride. Meanwhile, Dammika Prasad is not going to wait for the end, having raced to 22. Vidanapathirana shakily sees off one more over from Hilfenhaus to reach lunch. On the bright side for Sri Lanka A, they're within 5 runs of Australia A's 3rd innings score.

Ah atleast something to cheer about.

Honestly Aus do not need to depend on the tail considering their batsmen always score heavily and put the match beyond any doubt! But it's still great that Hilfanhaus has taken the time out to concentrate on not only his bowling but his batting too.

Crazy match, first innings saw the spinners dominate then the 2nd saw the pacemen dominate. Just what Hilfy needed before the test selection.

Luke Feldman and Klinger added to the One Day section of this tour. Interesting choice with Feldman, thought Copeland might get a go but not much splitting them anyway.

Sri Lanka A are really adamant that they need six bowlers, the only change for them is all-rounder Nadeera Nawela in for Vidanapathirana. Maybe it'll work a bit better at Townsville, but then again, the ABF is usually a belter.

So far: no good. George has dismissed both openers with snicks to the cordon. Chandimal hooked him to Pattinson at fine leg, who is not subbing. No other info on the team sheet thus far.

Bounce in the pitch and wickets for the tall bowlers. McDonald has picked up two, both of which came off the shoulder of the bat and went to Forrest at 1st slip. Aus A's hands have been very safe. Sri Lanka A in a spot of bother with their tail exposed early. Again.

Make that three for McDonald in that fashion, except this one went to Wade.

And they're all out for 78. George took four, McDonald three, Pattinson two, Hilfenhaus one. O'Keefe bowled three overs, but missed out.

Youngsters certainly having a field day with the ball. Sounds like it is another bowling friendly pitch which is a shame for the batsmen.
