Sri Lanka in England/Netherlands

Quite simply no.

I agree with you sureshot, get the youngsters in as soon as you can then they will gain experience and learn from mistakes and by the time they reach their middle to late 20's they will be very good players.

Jayasuirya won't be playing at Hove.

Mubarak and Vandoort both set to play.

Might go down on Saturday.

3 day game starting on Friday.

Hove isn't easy to bat at if the day is cold, because it's so close to the cold of the Channel it does move around.

I'm not bothered about his form nightprowler, I'd just hate to see Sri Lanka suffer even longer in the long run.

Yeah,right you are Sureshot.
Take away Vaas,Jayasuriya and Murali from the current Lankan side and they'll be as good as the Zimbabweans

I definately don't think so !
Not at all.

Bad example I would say. Udal has never led his team to victory IIRC. But if he was Murali quality, wouldn't you take him in the team for an important series/match even with his age?

Well what happened in India. He got 4-14 bowling India out for 100

He sure did and no-one can begrudge him that. But he is not long term is he, giving the likes of Panesar and Louden a chance will only improve them as cricketers.

I agree with that. I was just saying that he has the ability to bowl teams out and lead them to victory. If Giles' career ended tomorrow. The options would be

Udal-Old best bowling option
Panesar- Talented spinner. Needs more work on batting and fielding
Blackwell- Good batsman. Decent bowler. I still believe he is only part time.

I would go for Blackwell if Gilo didn't exist.

Blackwell is a Batting All rounder imo.

Similar mould to Afridi (not as talented mind).

Averages 43 in FC iirc from the Cricketers Who's Who book.

As for his bowling, judging him in India against India is tough, because they play Spin as well if not better than anyone else. He did very well in the ODIs and only Freddie iirc was more economical.

Blackwell works in ODIs for me. Although he should bat higher than 8. Maybe open him...

Opening the batting and Ian Blackwell does not go. Maybe G.Jones and little old Colly to support Tressie.

I also see Blacky as a batting all-rounder but Panesar has yet to really impress me yet.

That's a such a shame, to leave out Jayasuriya. I really don't think Mubarak is up to the task, Hopefully Vandort will change things around. Vandort can be a classy player. I have seen few of the domestic matches he had played back in SL, and he looks pretty solid, just hasn't been able to do the same in International level.

I meant as a power hitter.

Blackwell is a class act with the bat.

16 FC centuries, 1 double hundred, averages 43.

He's no slouch.

Me too.
I'd say Monty's better than Giles.
Regd Blackwell,he's definately a good bat and a hard hitter too.
But as many put it,he's just part-time.

I wouldnt say that Monty is better then Giles just yet, but with time and coaching he will become a better player.
Blackwell, plays well for Somerset but struggles for England unfortunatly as he can be such a threat at times.
