Sri Lanka in England/Netherlands

A) Isn't Mahmood an allrounder?
B) Jamie Dalyrymple is Kenyan born. Does this mean he could have played/can play for Kenya? Kenya needs someone like him...

i don't think Andersen will do a thing to worry the Australians. he is sort of in the Brett Lee mould with out the talent, maturity and experience to hurt even the worst aussie batsmen. i think Sajid Mahmood would be a much better option if Harmison is fit again

Anderson without talent? That really is a stupid comment.

Jimmy bowled really well in India.

Sajid has alot of competition for palces in a Lancashire team with better seamers than Bangladesh and Zimbabwe have.

ZD

@ Q1: http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/england/content/player/17944.html

He can hold a bat, 2 half centuries, but he's not an all rounder imo.

@ Q2: Looking at some information from Google, his parents went out their to work, full education in England.
But yes he probably could've played for Kenya, but is 100% English blood, just born in Kenya.

i never said the didn't have talent, just not enough to worry australia. his pace will probably come off the bat nicely and race away down the ground for yet another four that leads australia to a 5-0 ashes whitewash that brings the little urn home. :happy

Its good to see some different faces in the one day squad, reading in the wisden cricketer the other day it stated how since Fletcher took over in late 1999 England have won only 14 odi and lost 40 against serious opposition.

Wow that is a poor success rate. Still, like about 4 or 5 other sides they have a couple of players that could win them a match against any oppposition on their given day.

I see Jones it out though. And flintoff is out for 4 weeks. I reckon that's an extremely convenient layoff for a guy out of touch and overused...doesn't the next test series start in...4 weeks? Smells like they are only focussing on the ashes, and unfortunately for english fans, that means they will miss out on any decent one day cricket, and only get decent test cricket every 2 years.

only focusing on the ashes?

Why does everyone say that?

The bloke was clearly in pain bowling, Scans have showed bone fragments from his ankle.

Freddie needs a rest anyway, he had a poor series vs Sri Lanka.

You could say the same about Rooney, standard period recovery from a minor broken bone is 6 weeks, exactly 6 weeks from breaking till tomorrow.

It's total nonsense.

Sorry Steve.

-------

Sri Lanka bowled out for 173 at Chelmsford by Essex.

It's one of the best batting pitches in England :D

They then go to Taunton.

-------

Jahid Ahmed 4 wickets aswell., he's only 19.

Sri Lanka lose their second Tour match in succesion.

Losing to Somerset at the batting paradise that is Taunton.

Jimmy Hildreth with 46 off 24 for Somerset, century from Wood too.

Come on England, you owe us a ODI series victory! I just hope Sri Lanka can keep up this consistency! :D

I am picking Sri Lanka to win the Twenty20 comfortably.

Slower bowlers have been proven to be dangerous to attack when the field is back. If SL use Murili and Bandara, they will also have Jaysuria to bowl some. England, I don't think, have any or many slow bowling options.

On top of that, their batting line up is probably a touch more aggressive. Pietersen can take the game away though. Hes the key wicket for England.

Anything can happan in 20/20's, last year good knocks from Tresco at the top of the order and by Colly in the middle order all helped us gain victory over the aussies, along with a great bowling performance aswell on this very pitch.

20/20 can't be described as a spinners game! Although spinners can do a job in 20/20, i'll remind you that England bowled Australia out for 79 last year, with all 10 wickets falling to pace.
