Sri Lanka in England/Netherlands

How could Jones cross?!?!? Tres went to run but Sangakarra picked it up and trhew down the stumps before Tres could get back.

Should have just kept running as he wanted a run. Jones then should have said I'm useless so I'll cross ;)

It was good work by Sangakkara anyway, hopefully it's a sign of things to come.

Jones batted ok. He is a good batsman in ODI's especialy at the end of an innings.

As for the run out Tres would still of been closer to the run out end.

Goddamn it! He has been waiting for donkeys years to get in that squad and now he's injured, I think Glenn must have angered somebody up above.! :mad

Peter Crouch?

Ed Joyce has a Suspected dislocated and broken ankle, that's his season over then.

Poor bloke.

Not a bad effort by us, a batsman light and effectively having Our tail start at 7 (Although Bresnan and Plunkett can bat). Result doesn't bother me as I feel so low after the injury Joyce suffered.

Who comes in for him?
I'd pick Bell, we've seen his class fielding today, and has done alright in ODIs lately.
I would play Kabir Ali for Bresnan, Kabir Ali may have a mixed past for England in ODIs but he has to have a run in the team.

I would have always thought Bell was going to play in the ODIs. Against Ireland they were trying out his bowling so I'd expect him to play the part timer role.

Too bad he ran himself out! :) Jones should have crosses so that Tres stayed in there and won them the game.
Congrats to SL though Jayasuriya bowled well. Good to see him back winning games for SL again.

Not even the fastest sprinter in the world would have gotten past Tres :p

Glad to see Sri Lanka win.

My predictions were correct. Sri Lanka indeed did win and the medium pacers and spinners were the best.

Now you may agree with me that quality medium pacers and accurate spinners are much more difficult to get away.

Really, Fernando bowled extremly well. He has got a history of bowling no-balls but didn't bowl one. Mahmoods 2 runs he conceeded could have been the difference in the game. a few centremetres. Also that no ball for too many fielders. Its amazing in this game how valuable every single ball and every single run is.

I don't think England picked the right side. Even without the injury I think they would of lost. Trescothick carried them all on his own and apart from Strauss no one stepped up. That Trescothick innings was fantastic.

It was a fantastic match to watch, very close. I was actually hoping there would be a four off the last ball as it would of resulted in a bowl-off.

Pffftt, Joyce only got "soft-tissue bruising and a sprain." It looked bad, but he made the damn ambulance come onto the park and carry him off. Jeez, it wasn't even broken or fractured.

Geraint didn't do the best job again with the gloves, the ball slipped away from his grasp a few times :(

Tresco and Colly stood out from everyone really. Tresco was awesome to watch when he took the attack to them :D

But it was dislocated.

Oh, I see. Cricinfo failed to mention that. Fair enough indeed.

I did say I thought it would be a comfortable win, I was wrong there.

Here is my shallow reason for England's defeat: Nasser Hussain said, just before Tresco was out, "England are definite favourites now", the very next ball; Tresco is out!

He also did this in the Lord's final when Colly and GoJo where seeing us home, and then he said something along the lines of, "This is England's game now, they have it in the bag!". Unsurprisingly, Colly and GoJo both went in quick sucsession and we had to settle for a draw!

I know this is a relativley stupid reason, but it is uncanny how many times Nasser changes the fortunes of a game or a player's innings!

Dont blame ol Nass for mistakes made on the pitch by the players.

I wasn't exactly 'blaming' nass, I was just pointing out that he always tempts fate and is the prime culprit of the commentator's curse.

All that talk of the commentators curse is basically rubbish. Hundreds of inane comments are made throughout the day by all the commentators, it just so happens that when someone happens to say something just before an incident it is far more memorable.

Cricket is a game played between two sides of 11 players. Not in the commentary box by 2 pundits ;)
