Zimbabwe tour of New Zealand Jan-Feb 2011/12

Brownlie and Taylor might wanna swap spots. Brownlie is a much better Test cricketer than Taylor is.

Taylor 111 not out, Brownlie a duck. :p

I only saw a few overs before lunch but some of that Zimbabwe bowling wasn't really up to standard, could a be a long day or two out in the field for them unfortunately.

I watched the whole day, and I pretty much have to concur with this. When your second best bowler turns out to be a part-timer bowling 110km dibley dobleys you've got some problems. Both Vitori and the S. Masakadza really struggled latter on in the day, Vitori was struggling to hit 120km with the second new ball. Jarvis was pretty good, but Cremer wasn't really up to test match standard, that's understandable considering he's only their second spinner though.

Taylor batted really well, I don't even think he gave up one chance. McCullum and Guptill done their usual minnow basing, while Vettori was at his usual best. You've got to feel sorry for Williamson, being left high and dry like that. Rather strangely Brownlie was all at sea on a road, after such a stellar series against Australia.

All in all definitely New Zealand's day after being send in, with still the two at the wicket plus Bracewell and Southee to hopefully push us up in excess of 400. The test match will probably come down to how well B. Taylor bats for Zimbabwe.

Any reason why they didn't opt for a dose of Meth? It seems like they're a long way from their best attack with this XI.

Captaincy might turn a corner for Rosco, makes him puts more value on his wicket.

Yeah, most of the Zimbabweans were seen hitting up in the nets with Meth during the week, so it's no surprise they performed poorly today.

Zimbabwe really missed their two experienced bowlers yesterday, (Mpofu & Price) Cremer has just come back from a pretty serious injury so I didn't expect him to be a star yet. They are still struggling in the field, which is the worst part.

Meth overdosed on training and is virtually a vegetable right now.

both of them are pretty pathetic. :p

I'm loving the old replays of Heath Streak charging in. :D

Well that day sucked, rain and a massive injury.

My plan tomorrow would be to go out and have a slog in morning. Get the lead up to 450+ and have a bowl at Zim before lunch.

Yep it does. He didn't retire out, and it's not recorded as a wicket on the scoresheet so Martin would have come in to bat only 8 down which would have been a change for him :p

Well played by Watling though

Great day for us so far, job done with the bat, especially Watling.

We've got a part-time keeper keeping, and we've got two full-time keepers fielding. :spy

Martin now gives us the perfect start with the ball.
