Australia's Tour Of India - 2008

DAMN it  Johnson could have won that MOS if Punter would have givene him few spells :mad

LOL, Johnson bowled 166 overs and was easily the most bowled bowler. Sharma on the other hand only bowled 138 overs. Johnson was never going to get MOTS, it was either Gambhir or Sharma.

Congratulations India.

Pure rubbish from us (apart from a few). I won't go into it now because I don't want to take anything away from the Indian win and celebrations.

He took 12 wickets. What more do you want? Who would you have chosen?
I'm not taking anything away from his performance. But giving the man of the match to a player from a team who lost the game pretty convincingly doesn't make a lot of sense. I guess him being a debutant justified it a bit.

Other candidates were Tendulkar (for getting a century when Australia picked up quick wickets in the first session of the match), Sehwag for dominating the bowlers with 2 fifties, Dhoni for two well-timed half-centuries and leading well (for the most part) and even Bhajji for a really helpful 50 and getting important wickets today.

No! He wouldn't have got it at all!! He was miles worse then Khan and Sharma, and considering he was our best pace bowler it tells so much about how much we go beaten. He kept bowling across seam despite Sharma and Khan proving that bowling up-seam was the way to go.

Feelin Blue? added 2 Minutes and 13 Seconds later...

Mate, 12 wickets in a match is a lot better then a century or 2 half centuries. Just because we lost it doesn't mean everyone on the team played bad.

That doesn't matter. You don't have to be in the winning side to be the best player of the game.

Pretty poor effort all round by our bowlers.
Series average for bowlers

India
Sharma 15@27
Harbhajan Singh 15@28
Mishra 14@24
Khan 11@43
Kumble 3@95

Aussies
Johnson 13@40
Krejza 12@29
Watson 10@32
Lee 8@61
White 5@68
Clark 2@80

Don't think I've ever seen our bowling lineup average so high, if it was batsmen White, Clark and Lee would be looking good.

The batting is much worse with India's main 7 batters getting more runs than any of our batters bar Katich and Hussey.

Khan went at 43

We picked up 50 wickets in 4 matches. Thats 8 innings or cricket where we are supposed to take 80 wickets which means we fell 30 wickets short this series. Thats disgraceful. Indian bowlers took 58, but Sehwag got quite a few over the series.

Lee didnot perform well in the series.I hope he performs well against New Zealand!!

I remember when Sachin played that knock in Sharjah, against us and India lost it, he was the one who got MOM that time ;)

Great series, It's always a pleasure to watch every ball in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy... this is bigger than the Ashes!

Great victory and I was pleased to see the way the Australians conducted themselves upon India's victory.. really is a pleasure to watch these 2 teams play!
