West Indian Tour of India, 2013: Sachin's 200th Test Appearance

Though Ashwin has good batting temper, I really prefer Dhoni's way of not stressing too much into Ashwin for an AR. He needs to stay in classy bowler category with ability to hang around with bat. That's it, anything more than that we are getting, needs to be seen as bonus! Too much pressure or focus in trying to improve or enhance the batting ability should not spoil his bowling career.

Our great Jumbo also good temper to bat, I would see Ashwin 2-3 steps higher compared to that! ( in terms of batting ) Let him not turn as another Irfan Pathan!

Yup Irfan was given too much pressure to concentrate on batting and he lost his touch in ability to swing the ball so i think ashwin main priority should be bowling and he can contribute with bat by the way of skills that he already have.

Ashwin must keep his batting going this way and must also be among the wickets. That is more essential. Hope he doesn't become the Irfans and Bhajjis!

Yet another dubious decision from Mr. Llong. That would have never hit the timber. Unfortunate for Marlon! Anyway good for us, keep going India :p

This match is proving to be one really Llong test for an umpire.

Leg Bye! I thought that was out. Shami is bowling beautifully. Almost had Sammy there.

Bucknor never really helped India. ;)

Oh yeah, who can forget him :rolleyes

But he was the undisputed king of dubious decisions. He has given some very good ones too but towards the end of his umpiring career, he became a very lame and dubious umpire.

One should not doubt his intentions. Probably age got on him.

Completely agreed with Gavaskar's commentary that India need to stop obsessing over trying to get a genuine quick bowler that consistently bowls over 150kmph. Bowlers that bowl 135-142 will do the trick as long as they can move the ball off the pitch. If a 150kmph bowler comes up, great. If not, so be it.

My god, another wicket for Shami. And another. This is a great over.

shami is having an amazing debut.

and thus his decline began...

on ashwin though, he was a hair away from getting his 100th wicket this match and will almost definitely get it in the next test, only lohman, barnes, grimmett and turner have made it there faster than 18 matches (this was his 17th) that is an unbelievable stat.

Great stuff from Shami, how I love watching quality fast bowling. This will be a joke if they give Rohit the MOM, 9 wickets on this deck is far more impressive than a hundred.

They can't give it to Rohit. Shami was clearly the MOM. Not to mention that Ashwin's 124 and 5 wickets is a larger contribution than Rohit Sharma's 177 too (not taking anything away from him, he also did very well).

Wow, Shami got shafted. Nevermind. Ridiculous. I find this batsman-centric attitude really unfortunate.

I felt that the MOM should have either gone to Ashwin Ravi or Shami. Anyways cricket is a batsman oriented game as many people claim. Oh yes!

And as expected the MOM goes to a batsman :facepalm
Shami probably could've taken 15 wickets and they'd still give it to Rohit. Who'd want to be a fast bowler eh?

Shami should have got the MOM award. I mean a fast bowler has won the game for India in India. What more do you want him to do? Good match overall for India. Rohit and Ashwin helped us get a good enough lead and than Shami and Ashwin did the job again with the ball. Our top order needs to contribute more because it's not Ashwin's job to score runs.

I also don't understand the point of keeping Ishant and Umesh in the squad when they are not going to play. Release them to play ranji trophy so they will at least get some in game practice rather than just net bowling.
