Australia's Tour Of India - 2008

This pitch would definitely have suited Siddle. If White had performed with the bat we could have more confidence in playing him over Watson as we don't need 5 seamers. But we certainly are missing another bowler that can keep the pressure on when Clark takes a spell.

Gambhir is getting ready for a walk back to the pavilion. after all the admirable patience, he is showing signs of losing it (almost missed an edge, and an uppish outside edge). Hope i am proved wrong

Watson certainly is looking good so far. Keeping a good tight line with good seam position giving a bit of seam movement.

A good comeback by Aus players,2 wickets, now Sachin and Gambhir should bat well and see to it that there is a good partnership for around 100 runs at least, they have plenty of time, its just 1 day of test match and 1 session...

I think India have fought back really well after losing those 2 wkts. Sachin looked really good in that session. Gambhir showed amazing patience, esp. against Shane Watson who had locked himself into battle with Gambhir.

I would give Australia the first session, but just by a whisker (because of Gambhir-Sachin fightback). Since Australia are coming from a 320 run drubbing and having lost the toss, they deserved this session more for that effort

I have seen him play very well under pressure in Delhi, the last one I saw was against Pakistan in 2007. The average is definitely low as the pitch is not too good for the batters. I can see a lot of cracks in it and a bit of grass too.

Ohoho !! So you do believe that Tendulkar can sometimes bat under pressure.

Cominb back to the game, India have recovered well to reach a decent position. It could`ve been a lot worse, even a collapse like the one against SA at Ahmedabad earlier this year.

Happy Birthday Matthew Hayden, Took a brilliant catch at Slip. :D. ;)..

He has taken way better catches than that...

Sachin looking absolutely marvellous here... Scored 3 boundaries after lunch and all have been vintage ones from him!:happy He is on 43* now. Come on, Sachz....

One worrying thing for our batsmen in the last few series is our inability to convert starts into big scores. This is really is the true essence of Test cricket batting and I hope that it is more about the Fab 4 reaching the end of their careers rather than our youngsters not having the correct Test cricket mentality.

For example, in this series alone, the Indian batsmen have gotten plenty of starts but few fifties and even fewer centuries. The two centuries that have been scored have ended almost immediately after three figures have been reached. Compare this to Ponting's and Hussey's knocks, which kept going after the century had been reached.

Tendulkar has surpassed his average at this stadium of 44. It looks like he is settled and could get a big score. I expected Gambhir to be agressive player of this partnership.

A fifty for Tendulkar. Good for him.

Gambhir and Tendulkar, really playing well,a good partnership after a shaky start, both batting positively, after a long time, we see Sachin playing freely and not under any pressure,he seems very positive, and also supporting Gambhir well,we all want Sachin's 100 here.
