Australia's Tour Of India - 2008

A lot of people will scoff at this but i'm judging it on the pitch reports. First it looks to me a flat, hard wicket, no grass and probably will have even bounce. I think this is perfect for the spinners and i'm afraid pace bowling is going to be ineffective. Very ineffective. I think the one chance is through conventional swing. Spin twins, a swinger and limit the pace bowlers. Someone like Watson is an average medium pacer and i don't think he cuts it with the bat (i'd rather have a specialist batsman). They picked Marsh so i'm going ahead with Marsh. Now two problems: i haven't seen the pitch so its on what the 'media' say and also i'm a big fan of six batsman and a keeper.
Hayden
Katich- needs to bowl minimum 20 overs
Ponting
Hussey
Clarke- part time
Marsh
Haddin
Johnson
Lee
Bollinger
Krezja
Katich is my fifth bowler. He has to bowl a lot of overs- 20ish-30. Its tough on him and there maybe a case to swap him and Hussey but i think he can cope. Clark sadely misses out on my list however if he's gotten his form back (or shown signs) during the training session then i'm tempted to replace bollinger. Yeah Marsh has a shot ahead of Watson because i don't think medium pacers are going to push it and well a specialist batsman might be a better option.

By the sounds of it they know the 12 man squad so once again we wait for tomorrow to see if Krejza is in for White.

He was always a long shot anyway, Siddle probably would have got the nod over him if they were thinking of replacing one of the quicks.

Man i seriously think Bollinger should get the nod. He's a swing bowler, tall and he can also have a bit of bounce. The Indian's have had the success with reverse and conventional as well (people forget that Ponting got bowled with a fantastic in-swinger). The Australians should also give Katich the role as spinning all-rounder.

Only one man can be axed. Stuey Clark but still it will be a huge gamble to drop him

I agree sadly we are going to be left with the what if feeling. After the 2nd test I was hoping the selectors might have tried him to emulate what Khan and Sharma did.

Technically Johnsons could of gotten dropped as well, though he has picked up some wickets in this series.

I agree sadly we are going to be left with the what if feeling just like the Ashes. I do hope he gets a chance with Australia sometime in the future, we should at least see what he can do before the Ashes.

We will have Taity ready for ashes ;)

but for now Bollinger should play. If any of the seamers get dropped rither call Krejza or replace with Bollinger. No Siddle plz :noway

Take out some of his lucky wickets and that certainly could have been the case :) Our selectors won't drop the leading wicket taker in the series though.

I agree so much. Bollinger would be better suited to Indian conditions then Stuey Clark. I would have to drop Clark imo for Bollinger. Clark's great but he just isn't doing good enough this series. i would bring him straight back into the side against the kiwis though.

Definately :p he has high chance of getting the MOS and bag the sexy car :D

They dont drop him when he's doing crap anyway. Maybe they kept him in the side because of his awesome batting average (well used to be awesome) :D Anyway I'm glad they didn't drop him like I had been praying they would before this series...

The big thing about johnson is he has a knack for wickets- no matter how lucky. Couple that with disciplined spin bowling, an aggressive Lee and a guy who could swing it both ways i think Australia are capable of 20 wickets.
