Australia's Tour Of India - 2008

It's not as if the IBPXI is a bad side, guys like Pathan, Yuvraj, Chawla, Jaffer and others all have international experience. Those are just the ones with test experience. What's worrying is that we played 5 specialist bowlers and we still couldn't bowl them out for less than 400.

Why isn't Bollinger playing though? Surely we could have left Lee or Clark out for him and let him, Johnson and Siddle all bowl to see who deserves a spot?

If jason kretja is future of aussie bowling then god help aussies:p

The Australians could probably take note of that 3rd man, I'm sure Gilchrist used similar fields last time in India.

Haddin looks very comfortable, while Hussey is just doing his thing, that is to say they both look like they can make a lot of runs.

Unfortunate to hear that McGain is going home, but a relief that now someone better than Krejza can join the squad. I guess the likely player is Casson, but I admit calling up Symonds or even Cameron White would fill me with more confidence at this point. At least they wouldn't be taking up a bowler's spot.

This time the leg side attack wont work in india. Dizzy and pigeon are not bowling anymore.

We will struggle without Mcgain unless all the quicks can fire. They should inlcude Casson to the squad. Hes nothing special but I reckon he will do a better job than Krejza.

Aus 4/191

Hussey 54*
Haddin 34*
Ponting 41

Some good signs from the batsmen. Punter got some time in the middle , Hussey is in good form and Haddin look ok out there. Great to see Mitch get 4fer , should give him some confidence going in to the first test.

If this warmup game is anything to go by , it will be a tough tour for the Aussies. We really need EVERYONE to step up if we wanna win this time around. Good challenge for Punter as the captain as well. Some people don't rate him as a captain (even with his amazing record) because he had such a great bunch of player. If he can win the BG trophy with this team I think it will prove his captaincy credentials beyond any doubt.

I hope aussies play five bowler plus watson

thats why he hopes we play so many bowlers so they can get us out cheaply

Less than a week to go. So I thought we would look back at some of the predictions during the last test series in Australia which in hindsight might seem very funny.
Just some fun stuff in the buildup to the first game !
I have to applaud the optimism you Indian fans possess but as much as I would like to see Australia get beat for a change, I don't see it happening at all. 3 or 4 nil to Australia in my books.

We won't even last 2 days in Perth let alone win it.
If I had as many Test and ODI runs to my name as Tendulkar does, then I wouldn't give a flying penis what Jordox thinks.

That Hindi? Or one of the many many gibberish dialects around India?

Please.. It's an English forum

What a comeback by you though sir (are you a sir? Your signature is very very girly).. I think I might reply to that every single time I am jarred up by someone else. Makes you sounds, very very smart.

what was bucknor doing??that was such a big nick.......how is any team to win agianst australia if this keeps up??bucknor is way past his sell by date.
lol at first i thought it was a no ball coz it was so obviouse. but sheesh what a big nick.

I've stopped watching. I watched when India got those 4 quick wickets and was hoping it would change things around. It seems that nothing ever changes in Indian cricket...

To be fair, the moment I saw Steve Bucknor officiating I knew that Australia would win this match easily. He's their twelveth man... not that they need one anyway.

The nick Symonds got to Ishant Sharma was such that even a deaf man could hear it....

I am bitter... the Aussies are tough enough without so many decisions going in their favour. Yes, India got Ponting back in their favour, but still four or five decisions have gone against INdia today.

Spectacular Sydney here we come!

Well done guys!!!! It was fun! A well deserved victory! And it has been achieved primarily by the two dark horses - Virender Sehwag and Irfan Pathan. Both were on the comeback and they did well at the toughest places of all - Perth!

Only Australia can scare us like that, and right now all my anger that I vented on RP Singh came down with that yorker length delivery that finished off this match and got that victory! Well played Australia. Had it not been for some controversial decisions, I shudder to think what the result of this match would have been.

Something before I end - India ended Steve Waugh side's 16th consecutive win at Kolkatta and then went on to win again at Chennai. Can they repeat history and win at Adelaide to square this series which would be one of the greatest achievements of indian cricket (We played well in Sydney too).

Those were great times ! So much emotion and tempers flaring in that series !
I hope the intensity is the same in this series but i doubt it.

Coming back to the warm up game, Australia have got a very good workout which is what you expect from a warmup game. The results really do not matter. They are better prepared in terms of match practice than India.

Wait! If ur going by this BP XI match and the RCA match, dont make the mistake. Playing the actual test is totally different. I will always be wary of these Australians. I feel they are mentally stronger, can suddenly bounce back anytime and beat you before u know it. I wish India wins the series, but all I want is for this series to live up to the recent high quality contests that India vs Australia have produced, thats all.

Chawla has done a very good job. Seeing by how the Aussies have fared against spin in these two games, they are in for very tough times ahead in the test matches against Kumble and Harbhajan. I expect to see Harbhajan have fun. He is in great form (he bowled very well in Sri Lanka) and he is the prime weapon. Kumble should keep it tight, and Harbhajan should go full throttle.

Indeed we missed a big opportunity to get the form bowler in this tour a try. My only hope is the selectors already have him in the 11 but that is unlikely.

And tbh we needed a good spinner to be able to bowl a side out for 400. Even with 5 bowlers in these flat decks it's not much use if they are all pacemen. I have no idea what the selectors will do, best bet is to bring Symonds over although I wouldn't say no to throwing in one our rookie spinners that is promising.
