West Indian Tour of India, 2013: Sachin's 200th Test Appearance

Thanks Aalay, Yeah I was referring to those posts but couldn't recollect it. :)

Thats good, must say watched 5 mins and had to turn it off. The camera was on Sachin more than the actual cricket, which is to be expected I guess but still disappointing.

That is what we call it as, 'Farewell to a legend'. If our mindset fails to accept, yeah it is better to turn it off and stay away from it.:thumbs

Wow,your words are really magical :eek::eek: Sachin was the fifth bowler to be used and he got a wicket from a well bowled flipper that trapped shillingford :clap:clap:clap:clap:clap

haha, surprised and contented feeling to see him bowling. Not that he got wicket, but his classy bowling includes many great moments - 92/93 Hero Cup final over, Titan Cup, irritating Steve Waugh/Inzi & the classy bowled of Moin Khan. These just ran into my head as soon as I saw him with the ball. :)

That caught and bowled that Ashwin took may have been a tail ender but the way he bowled that delivery and the way he came back after being taken to the cleaners in his first over was brilliant.

Ridiculous batting by WI. The lack of temperament showed on the players. 4 sixes in the first session of the opening day of a test match is mind boggling especially when you see Gayle is not in the list. Talking about Gayle, he struggle against the short of a length outswingers pitched on middle and off stump continues but the way Samuels and Ramdin got out playing a nothing shot is too disappointing. Chanders too batted selfishly instead of saving the tailenders at the other end. Absolutely aghast to see such an experienced batsman expose the tailenders for 4-5 deliveries an over most times. He should have taken the responsibility to try and bat as many overs as possible and get more runs in the process solidifying the WI innings. Everything said, nothing to take away from young Shami. He continues to impress. IIRC, his figures of 4/71 is joint second best with Venkatesh Prasad for an Indian bowler in the debut innings. The way he bowled -- the cutters, inswingers, reversing fuller length ball -- reminds me of Munaf Patel's debut game against England back in 2006. Amused to see Ishant Sharma handing the test cap to Shami. It was as if Sharma was telling to Shami that his time to carry the baton is over and it is his (Shami) time to guide India forward. :p Coming back to the play, no Roach and no Rampaul means India are all set to gain a mammoth lead. Best, our strike bowler has never been great against India which dips our chances further. On a positive note, this test can be a real career reviver for the likes of Powell, Best and Sammy.

Over the course of next few months,

Shami Ahmed will play all formats for India along with the IPL, will become completely exhausted, then a bit out of form, then he will play our great Indian domestic 4 day competition where he will bowl 50-70 overs per week in hostile conditions, get injured, lose confidence. And his few months of glory will be over.
Thanks to our beautiful player management system and domestic structure, we keep loosing good bowlers. :D

Finally, could see bowlers doing well on Indian pitches. If it wasn't happen, then I was about to skip this series. -_-

Fock that siht system. Really we missed a lot players. Starting with Irfan,R.P. and ending with Zaheer & Ishant. Bhuvi is also not doing well as per his talent. :(

As we have discussed before, the prob with WI in ODI & tests is that they play it like a T20 game. Its a mental problem they have that needs serious sorting out, because they no longer have a talent problem.

The shot Sammy played to get out was atrocious & is why most see him as ill-equipped to be a test skipper or player.

Mohammad Shami, the future, or the next Indian hype bowler to follow in the footsteps of Pathan, Nehra, Yadav, Ishant, RP Singh...etc

Its funny, but that is the weird thing about IND fast bowlers this decade. All of them start looking seriously good, but the all fall away for similar reasons.

Interestingly the only one to become good was Zaheer Khan after he went a spent a season playing county cricket in 2006, so maybe the BCCI should look use their influence on the world game for some actual cricket benefit to their side and send more of their fast bowlers to play county cricket or maybe in S Africa or something.

Just watched the highlights. The wicket taken by Sachin Tendulkar was greeted by wild and rapturous applause by 50,000 odd people. Amazing! When the test started, the crowd was lower than expected, but as the day progressed, the crowd started swelling and came for that one guy. :P

Today's crowd should be amazing. And when he comes out to bat, its going to be an amazing moment for every fan of his to soak in the atmosphere in the stadium. It will be electrifying.

Sai, I am eagerly waiting for that. I should accept your point that you made during 2007 World Cup? that watching cricket from US is really pain when matches happen in India.

In particular, when it is on a weekday with having necessity to go to work next day. :p Am just counting the time to see the little master come out with that magical bat.

Imagine being an umpire who wrongly gives Sachin out in any of these 4 innings... or the guy who runs him out...

Great ball, but I don't understand the shot. This is a test match and he's still playing his way into the innings.

:( I jinxed it.

What the early September... That being said, Shillingford has been very, very impressive.

Is Llong the new Bucknor?

Has given a lot of weird expressions to the Indian players(when they appeal while bowling) right from the start of the series, and this is not the only wrong decision he has given.

Oh boy!

I dare say Sachin's wicket was just a gift. I don't think it would have hit the timber. Touch and go, good line but height was an issue there.

Now everyone won't miss Bucknor! Anyways time to move on. :(

How does Ravi Shastri keep making the cut...
