Australia's Tour Of India - 2008

Why was Ishant brought in to bat instead of Dhoni?

Obviously because Dhoni didn't want to bat with Ganguly :D

Because a wicket fell late in the day, and they didn't want to risk losing Dhoni, so they sent in Sharma as the night-watchman.

Great innings thus far from Dhoni to push India's advantage. His innings demonstrates aptly why Australia has been defensive with their fields when they have been bowling.

Watson looks injured again, geez knew he should have spent at least 2 years in FC before playing international cricket.

He's still bowling, though. Can't be too bad.

In other news, McGain will be out for 3+ months, taking surgery to repair his shoulder. Oddly enough that's not bad news for the Vics, because we can give Jon Holland an extended run.

That session was dominated by India. Pathetic bowling from our pacemen. How we can continue bowling short while getting smashed is beyond me. And Punter? Please, why did it take you so long to put a spinner on?

We're going to have to do something special to keep them under 450.

Punter only uses spinners to get the over rate to a manageable amount towards the end of a session.

It's ridiculous. He could've at least put them on when the runs were flowing in the middle of the session to mix things up.

Its called 'nightwatchman' where you save your top order batsman from the possibility of losing his wicket at the ending stages of the day.

Very good session for India! Great stuff from Ganguly and Dhoni

We have 400 now and Ganguly-Dhoni are still in there. I would say bat the whole of the day today and see where we are at. According to the commentators and their pitch reports, this pitch should be like this for the first three days. If we can eat up two full days and get a score of 500+, that would be fantastic to the team and they can put lot of pressure on the Aussies and hopefully with the wicket starting to play tricks.

Waiting to see Ganguly's 2nd ton against Australia after that 144 in Brisbane. Dont disappoint us Saurav!
