Australia's Tour Of India - 2008

Out of interest what changes would you (Aussie fans) make if you were the selector.
Given the squad and therefore the unavailability of Symonds and Hilfenhaus, I would go with:

Hayden
Katich
Ponting
Hussey
Clarke
Watson
Haddin
Johnson
Clark
Bollinger
Siddle

So that is Lee and White out, (white-out, didn't even mean to be funny but was classic) and Clark and Bollinger in. If Clark isn't fit then leave White in. (white-in is less funny)

We need a way to attack the batsmen and Lee and White are not doing it.

if i were an aussie fan i would have first dropped hayden .but given that he is the only opener now in the aussie squad(katich is not a good opener imo) this cant happen.

Ishant getting Ponting, Harbhajan getting Hayden = Classic Cricket. India should be winning this by at least 250 runs. Australians have neither bowled or batted well in this match. I can understand that their bowling is kinda weak because there is no regular spinner in the side but the batting looks really strong. They should have stepped up in the 1st innings.

Australia got to come hard in the next match if they want to have any chances of retaining the border gavaskar trophy.

He's too good to drop. It would be a bit like Laxman being dropped right now, except even worse. Laxman hasn't done much this series, as is the same with Hayden, but their form in the last couple of years has been excellent, and they both have plenty of runs on the board, even moreso in Hayden's case. He doesn't stay down for too long.

Jaques, I assume, would come in for Katich if they felt the need to drop him, but I don't reckon they would. We have bigger issues in our bowling.

india are sure to win.but they still need to be aware of aussies.they can comeback into the game any moment even before you realise that they are dominating.remember the match sometime before, when australia were in a worser position and gillespie and martyn saved the match for them.gillespie played a sheet anchor role and gave ample support to martyn who played his shots.India have been in this position before with the 2004 pakistan series when kamran akmal and another player(i think its younis khan) played for the whole day and drawed the match.so india have got to be really careful.

No Rainfall??? Thats great. So, Australia cant escape this time.:happy

When was the last time England even beat India in India? I mean come on.

In fact, it has been 12 years since England last beat India in a test series !
We`ve played 4 series since then and India have won two of them while the other two have been drawn 1-1.

Coming back to today`s game, I wouldn`t be celebrating until we actually have it wrapped up.We have seen in the past how the lower order can trouble India but the calming factor would be that we have potential 50 overs with the new ball in the kitty if things do not work out early enough.

Hopefully, we will not see a repeat of what Akmal and Razzaq did in 2005 to draw the game for Pakistan on he last day.

Ishant bowled really well, last inng before getting rid of Ponting he bowled similar bowl,be Ponting escaped, after 2 deliveries he bowled similar ball, which came back in,he was trapped LBW,in this 2nd inngs,Ponting was again trapped by Ishant, bhajji too bowled well, but so far Mishra is wicketless.Tomorrow they should try to get rid of these 2 set batsman as early as possible.

Gambhu you beauty. Ishant and Bhajji, Well what can I say?

I still have strange feeling that Australia might pull off a draw, I mean the partnership at the end looked pretty good...

Brett Lee is giving up 3.16 an over, the lack of bounce on Indian pitches having taken away one of his weapons.
The bowling coach Troy Cooley is travelling with the team, but his magic either hasn't worked in India or has worn off. Cooley was part of England's sweet success in 2005, when the fast men curled the ball at will and exposed Australia's weakness against movement. This time Australia is behind on the trickery again.

One major area of concern is the performance of bowling spearhead Brett Lee, who has failed to penetrate on the Indian pitches over the first two games-Aus coach.

Yes Brett Lee has failed this time,so far,but when he came with G Mcgrath last time both were pretty successful.

I am concerned, at the moment. The pitch still looks good and it would have been much better for us if we'd snagged one or two more wickets last night. I think this partnership has actually brought some hope. If these two can hang on for at least another session, I think the tailenders could hang-on with a specialist batsman.

We need to come in pumped up tomorrow morning and make sure we don't squander away another opportunity to beat the Aussies.
